House Intel Chairman criticizes Biden for exacerbating the border crisis by providing incentives.
House Intelligence Chairman Slams Biden Over Illegal Immigration
House Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner (R-OH) strongly criticized President Joe Biden for the surge in illegal immigration at the U.S. southern border. Turner accuses Biden of actively encouraging this influx by offering incentives to illegal aliens and sending the message that the border is open.
During an interview on ABC News’ “This Week” with Martha Raddatz, Turner expressed his concerns about the Biden administration’s approach to immigration.
“The Biden administration has been encouraging migrants by providing assistance without clearly communicating that our borders should be closed. Instead, they have adopted an open border policy,” Turner stated. “This poses both national security and economic security threats. We have apprehended individuals on the terrorist watch list, and drugs like fentanyl are flowing across the border. Even the mayor of New York acknowledges that it’s destroying his city.”
Turner highlighted the Republican’s proposed border protecting bill, House Bill 2, which aims to implement physical barriers, revise asylum rules, and increase the number of border agents.
“In contrast, the Biden administration recently granted 200,000 Venezuelans temporary protective status, preventing their deportation and granting work privileges,” Turner explained.
According to Turner, if Biden were to close the border and stop providing incentives, it would discourage others from attempting to cross the southern border.
“If we had the right policies in place, these individuals wouldn’t be here. By offering open assistance, we are encouraging more people to come,” he emphasized. “That’s why House Bill 2 aims to secure the border, change asylum rules, and provide us with the legal tools to send people back home.”
Turner pointed to the staggering number of 1.9 million people who have crossed the border in the past year as evidence that the border is wide open.
“That’s more people than the combined population of Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and southeast Ohio. These numbers speak for themselves and clearly demonstrate that the administration’s policies are encouraging illegal immigration. We must put an end to this,” Turner concluded.

How has the increase in illegal border crossings impacted the ability of the Border Patrol to effectively secure the border and address potential threats to national security?
The Biden administration’s approach to immigration, particularly the handling of the surge in illegal immigration at the southern border of the United States. As House Intelligence Chairman, Turner has a unique perspective on the national security implications of this issue.
Turner wasted no time in criticizing President Biden for what he sees as a direct encouragement of illegal immigration. He accused Biden of offering incentives to illegal aliens and sending a message that the border is open. This, according to Turner, has led to a surge in the number of individuals attempting to cross the border illegally.
The House Intelligence Chairman’s concerns are not unfounded. The number of apprehensions at the southern border has significantly increased since Biden took office. The Border Patrol is being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of individuals attempting to enter the country illegally. This has not only created a humanitarian crisis but also poses a potential threat to national security.
Turner emphasized the importance of secure borders as a fundamental aspect of national security. He argued that a lax approach to immigration poses risks, as it allows unauthorized individuals to enter the country undetected. These individuals could potentially engage in criminal activities or even pose a threat to the safety of American citizens.
Furthermore, Turner voiced his concerns about the Biden administration’s handling of unaccompanied minors crossing the border. As intelligence chairman, he is acutely aware of the vulnerabilities and potential exploitation these children may face. He called for a more efficient and humane system that prioritizes their safety and well-being.
The House Intelligence Chairman’s criticism of Biden’s immigration policies is not isolated. Many Republicans, and even some Democrats, have expressed similar concerns. The surge in illegal immigration and the strain it puts on border communities continues to be a contentious issue, with varying opinions on the most effective approach to address it.
It is clear that there is a need for comprehensive immigration reform that balances both national security concerns and humanitarian considerations. Addressing the root causes of migration, such as economic instability and violence in the countries of origin, is crucial. Additionally, ensuring a fair and efficient process for legal immigration can provide an alternative to illegal entry.
In conclusion, House Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner has strongly criticized President Biden for what he perceives as an encouragement of illegal immigration and a failure to secure the southern border adequately. Turner’s concerns, rooted in national security, shed light on the complex challenges that the Biden administration faces. A comprehensive approach that addresses the root causes of migration and provides a fair and efficient immigration system is essential to resolve this issue.
