Lauren Boebert criticizes last-minute proposal as deadline nears.

Rep. Lauren⁤ Boebert Opposes Continuing Resolution, Calls for Budget Cuts

Rep. Lauren ⁤Boebert (R-CO) is taking a stand against a⁣ continuing resolution that would give the House 30 days to complete the budget. With only four appropriations bills submitted⁤ so far, there are still eight more awaiting advancement. Boebert argues that simply approving a partial budget through‍ a stopgap measure is not ⁤a sufficient solution and suggests slashing the budget instead.

“A Continuing‍ Resolution is ⁤not‌ a budget process,” Boebert⁢ expressed on X, formerly⁢ known as Twitter. “It just continues the same levels of spending for longer. ⁤Our national debt grows. The overspending continues. We spend $2 TRILLION more than we⁣ bring in as a government.‍ If⁢ we don’t start cutting now, then when do we start?”

The current budget is set to be lower than ‌what⁤ President Joe Biden ⁢and his allies pushed for ⁢last⁤ year. While some Republican congressmen consider this a victory, Boebert and Rep.‌ Matt Gaetz (R-FL) find it insufficient and are unwilling ‌to vote for the rule alongside their party members.

Gaetz has indicated that he would support the⁢ current Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill, as well as the bills on agriculture, state operations, and foreign operations.

Controversy Surrounding Boebert

Boebert, who ⁢is up for reelection in 2024, has ⁤recently made headlines due to controversy in‌ her personal life. She was ejected from a musical ⁢performance of Beetlejuice after being caught on security footage vaping,⁤ taking photos, and engaging in inappropriate behavior with her partner.

Congress has⁤ until September 30 to fund the government before a shutdown occurs.
