Biden’s administration fails to justify its questionable $6B hostage deal with Iran.
Shocking Revelation: Biden’s Iran Negotiator Has Iranian Operatives on Staff
The recent discovery that Robert Malley, the chief negotiator on Iran for the Biden administration, has at least three Iranian influence operators on his staff, along with the disastrous hostage deal made with the mullahs, raises concerns about whose interests they truly serve.
The Biden team exchanged $6 billion and a few Iranian criminals in our prisons for the release of five American hostages held on false charges. While we are grateful for their return, we must question the hidden motives behind this mistake.
At its core, this decision puts a target on all Americans abroad, signaling to tyrants that they can use U.S. citizens as bargaining chips for big rewards. However, the situation becomes even worse when we examine who the Iranians received in addition to the cash.
Among those released were two individuals involved in supporting Iran’s illicit nuclear program, and another who provided technology to a sanctioned terrorist organization, the Central Bank of Iran. These individuals were engaged in espionage and illegal financial operations to evade U.S. sanctions aimed at stopping Iran’s nuclear ambitions and support for terrorism. Shockingly, three of these malign actors were allowed to remain in the U.S., where their crimes were committed.
For years, Iran has been conducting extensive operations to advance its nuclear program and shape public opinion on the matter. The Iran Experts Initiative, which originated during the Obama-era nuclear deal talks, has now been exposed as part of this effort. National security officials sympathetic to the regime were employed to spin Iranian wrongdoing and portray it as harmless.
So why would the Biden administration assist Iran? The answer lies in their desperate pursuit of foreign policy success. Their track record includes the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, which resulted in the loss of 13 American lives, and the ongoing conflict and financial support in Ukraine.
Appeasing Mullahs: The Nuclear Deal Obsession
The Biden administration is fixated on striking a nuclear deal and restoring Iran’s position on the world stage, as perceived by the left-leaning foreign policy establishment. There are even reports that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has granted permission for direct nuclear talks with the U.S. The administration believes that Iran, despite being the largest state sponsor of terrorism and a repressive theocratic tyranny, can be treated as a diplomatic partner.
This is the same team that previously sent an unmarked plane filled with cash to Iran during the Obama years. Now, they are pursuing a watered-down version of the same flawed idea. The belief is that if enough money and goodwill are given to Iran, they will transform into a more benevolent regime. However, their actions, such as funding terrorism and committing human rights abuses, contradict this notion.
The ruling mullahs in Iran are barbaric Islamists. The people of Iran have long sought to replace them, but meaningful assistance has been lacking, and worse, their oppressors have been legitimized and supported. Biden and his team are continuing this failed strategy by providing financial support and validation to the regime.
An Iran armed with nuclear weapons is a nightmare for the Middle East and the world. Not only are they a top contender for using such weapons, but their possession would trigger an arms race among other regional players. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has explicitly stated that if Iran obtains a nuclear bomb, Saudi Arabia will follow suit.
Saudi Deal: A Desperate Attempt
Another initiative pursued by the Biden administration to bolster their foreign policy credentials is a deal for Saudi Arabia to officially recognize Israel. While this is a significant challenge, one wonders if they believe they can tie all these elements together. The audacity of thinking they can rehabilitate the Iranian theocracy while simultaneously achieving peace between Jews and Arabs defies logic.
If trusting the Taliban to secure our withdrawal from Afghanistan was foolish, this latest move demonstrates that the Biden team’s judgment has only worsened. Allowing the Iranian regime to acquire nuclear weapons goes against common sense. We cannot trust the Biden administration to negotiate any deal claiming to prevent this outcome. Instead, they are more likely to enable it, putting us all at greater risk. No legacy-building or political maneuvering is worth that danger.
How does the Biden administration’s prioritization of the Iran nuclear deal align with its stance on human rights and democracy?
And oppressive leaders who prioritize their own power and control over the well-being of their people. They have a long history of human rights abuses, including the brutal suppression of dissent and the execution of political prisoners. By appeasing the mullahs and providing them with financial incentives, the Biden administration is effectively enabling their oppressive regime and undermining the values of freedom and democracy that the United States stands for.
The nuclear deal obsession of the Biden administration also neglects the fact that Iran has repeatedly violated international agreements and lied about its nuclear program in the past. The regime cannot be trusted to act in good faith and uphold its commitments. By lifting sanctions and allowing Iran to continue its nuclear activities, the Biden administration is putting the security of not only the United States, but also its allies and the entire world at risk.
Furthermore, the inclusion of Iranian operatives on the staff of Robert Malley, the chief negotiator on Iran, raises serious concerns about the transparency and integrity of the negotiation process. How can we trust that the interests of the United States are being prioritized when those responsible for negotiating on its behalf have ties to the very regime they are negotiating with?
The Biden administration needs to reassess its approach to Iran and prioritize the security and interests of the United States and its allies. Instead of appeasing the mullahs and seeking a flawed nuclear deal, the administration should focus on holding Iran accountable for its support of terrorism and human rights abuses. This requires a strong and principled stance that puts the safety and well-being of the American people first.
It is crucial that the American public and lawmakers demand transparency and accountability in the Iran negotiations. We must not allow the mistakes of the past to be repeated, and we must ensure that any agreement reached with Iran is in the best interest of the United States and its allies. The future of international security and stability depends on it.
