Man Arrested for Shooting at Inhabited Dwelling in Spring Valley
A 46-year-old man is behind bars after being apprehended in San Diego for allegedly firing shots at a residential property in Spring Valley. The suspect, Benjamin Bautista, faces charges of shooting at an inhabited dwelling and negligently discharging an illegal firearm, both of which are felonies.
The incident occurred on September 4th at approximately 1 a.m. near the 10000 block of Chavacan Lane. Upon arrival, deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station discovered over a dozen gun casings and multiple bullet holes in a nearby home. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
An extensive investigation was conducted by Rancho San Diego detectives, with assistance from the San Diego Police Department, leading to the identification of Benjamin Bautista as the primary suspect in the shooting.
On September 27th, at approximately 8 a.m., Rancho San Diego detectives, along with the Crime Suppression Team, apprehended Mr. Bautista near the 3200 block of Towser Street in San Diego.
During a related investigation, the San Diego Police Department discovered an AR-15 ghost gun and multiple high-capacity magazines. The firearm has been linked to the September 4th shooting and is currently in the custody of the Sheriff’s Department.
Mr. Bautista was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on Wednesday, with bail set at $75,000. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday at 1:30 p.m. at East Division Court in El Cajon.
