Las Vegas Police have finally apprehended a suspect in the long-standing mystery surrounding the 1996 drive-by shooting of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur. This shocking development comes 27 years after the tragic death of the beloved artist.
The recently arrested individual, Duane “Keffe D” Davis, has been taken into custody by Las Vegas authorities. He will be charged with conspiracy to commit murder, according to the New York Post.
In various interviews and his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” Davis has made statements claiming that he was present in the Cadillac that pulled up next to Shakur’s car. He admitted to rolling down the windows and firing shots, which ultimately struck the rapper four times.
Davis further implicated his nephew, Orlando Anderson, as the one who fatally shot Tupac. Anderson, a member of the South Side Compton Crips gang, died in 1998 due to a separate gang-related incident.
Reportedly, the motive behind the shooting was retaliation against Tupac, who had allegedly been involved in a brawl with a gang member just hours before the tragic event.
Although Anderson denied any involvement in the shooting at the time and was never charged, Nevada law allows for the prosecution of murder cases without time limitations. As a result, the investigation into Shakur’s murder has remained open.
In July, Las Vegas police executed a search warrant at the residence of Davis’ wife, Pamela Clemons, as part of their ongoing investigation.
During the raid, authorities seized several electronic devices, including computers, laptops, and iPads. They also discovered a .40 caliber cartridge, the same type of casing found at the scene of the shooting.
According to Greg Kading, a retired LAPD detective who had investigated Tupac’s death, Davis provided the gun to his nephew, who was in the car with them. Together, they planned and carried out the shooting. Kading stated that they are all equally guilty under solicitation for murder.
Kading expressed his excitement, stating, “I am super excited because this is huge! We knew this wasn’t an unsolved case, and now it looks like they have taken it to a point where they can officially close it. For the rest of history, Tupac’s murder will not be considered an unsolved crime.”
Tupac was only 25 years old at the time of his tragic death. His fourth solo album, “All Eyez on Me,” was at the top of the charts, with nearly five million copies sold.

After 27 years, a suspect has finally been apprehended, bringing hope for justice and closure to both fans of the esteemed artist and the music industry as a whole.
The recently arrested individual, Duane “Keffe D” Davis, was taken into custody by Las Vegas authorities. He is expected to be charged with conspiracy to commit murder, according to the New York Post. The arrest comes after Davis made statements in interviews and in his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” claiming his involvement in the shooting.
Davis admitted to being present in the Cadillac that pulled up next to Shakur’s car on that fateful day. He confessed to rolling down the windows and firing shots, which tragically struck the rapper four times. Davis further implicated his nephew, Orlando Anderson, as the one who fatally shot Tupac. Anderson, a member of the South Side Compton Crips gang, died in 1998 as a result of a separate gang-related incident.
The motive behind the shooting allegedly stems from a brawl between Tupac and a gang member just hours before the incident. Retaliation was sought against the rapper, leading to the tragic shooting. Although Anderson denied any involvement and was never charged at the time, Nevada law allows for the prosecution of murder cases without time limitations. This has left the investigation into Shakur’s murder open for nearly three decades.
In July, Las Vegas police executed a search warrant at the residence of Davis’ wife, Pamela Clemons, as part of their ongoing investigation. During the raid, authorities seized several electronic devices, including computers, laptops, and iPads. They also discovered a .40 caliber cartridge, which matched the casing found at the scene of the shooting.
Greg Kading, a retired LAPD detective who had previously investigated Tupac’s death, revealed that Davis provided the gun to his nephew, who was in the car with them. Together, they planned and carried out the shooting. Kading stated that they are all equally guilty under solicitation for murder.
This groundbreaking development has generated excitement among those involved in the investigation. Kading expressed his optimism, stating, “I am super excited because this is huge! We knew this wasn’t an unsolved case, and now it looks like they have taken it to a point where they can officially close it. For the rest of history, Tupac’s murder will not be considered an unsolved crime.”
The arrest of Davis brings hope to Tupac’s family, friends, and fans around the world. After years of uncertainty and frustration, there is finally a chance for justice to be served. The closure of this case will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the music industry and will forever be remembered as a pivotal moment in the history of rap and the fight against violence.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the world watches with bated breath, hoping that the truth will prevail and that Tupac’s legacy will be honored by holding those responsible for his untimely death accountable.
