‘Matt Walsh: Federal Court’s Ruling Crushes ACLU in TN Trans Case’
Daily Wire Host Celebrates “Devastating” Ruling Upholding Bans on Gender Treatments for Children
In a recent ruling, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the bans on puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender surgeries for gender-confused children in Tennessee and Kentucky. Daily Wire host Matt Walsh enthusiastically praised the decision, stating that it thoroughly dismantled the arguments of trans activists.
🧵Last night, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals delivered a devastating ruling for the trans cult. No other court decision has so thoroughly dismantled, point-by-point, every disingenuous argument from trans activists. https://t.co/5LZG9YZXCG

Walsh explained that the case originated from laws passed in Tennessee and Kentucky after his reporting on Vanderbilt’s gender clinic, which revealed the financial motivations behind certain gender treatments. He emphasized that trans activists and the ACLU were vehemently opposed to these laws and attempted to challenge them in court.
2/ The case arose because of laws in TN & KY banning the use of puberty blockers & sterilizing cross-sex hormones on kids. The laws were passed after my reporting on Vanderbilt’s gender clinic, and how they see some gender “treatments” as big money makers. https://t.co/fzOVq8Lfd0

Walsh then delved into the details of the court’s ruling, highlighting its significance in protecting children from the harmful effects of radical gender theory in medical practice. He emphasized that the ruling affirmed the right of voters to ban medical procedures they deem immoral or dangerous, regardless of the opinions of pharmaceutical experts.
“The court goes on to state that WPATH – the standard-setting organization for ‘trans healthcare’ – counseled against using hormones and puberty blockers on minors from 1979 to 2000. Even now, WPATH admits there is ‘limited data’ supporting their use.”
5/ Then the court explains that voters have very good reason to believe that so-called “gender-affirming care” – including puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones – is dangerous. The court notes that many countries have started banning them. pic.twitter.com/3AngcO9ify

Walsh also highlighted recent revelations from a UK study, which showed that a significant number of young people identifying as transgender experienced mental health issues after undergoing puberty blockers. He criticized the ACLU’s attempt to argue for special protections for transgender individuals, comparing it to laws protecting racial minorities.
8/ In their attempt to win the case despite this evidence, the ACLU claimed that “transgender people” are a special category entitled to unique protections under the Constitution & argued that any law affecting only “trans” people is akin to a law affecting only black people.

According to Walsh, the ruling sets a significant precedent and firmly establishes that parents do not have the right to subject their children to harmful procedures. He expressed confidence that the ruling would withstand any challenges from the ACLU, given the current composition of the Supreme Court.
“This is a major win for the voices of sanity and for millions of children. Trans activists have relied on too many disingenuous and self-contradictory arguments for too long. Now it’s all falling apart. If we keep up the fight, soon there won’t be anything left of transgenderism.”
What are the potential long-term risks and benefits of gender treatments for children?
Gender treatments for children can be harmful. They point out that puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender surgeries are not FDA-approved for gender dysphoria, and that there is limited data supporting their long-term safety and efficacy. The court recognizes that voters have the right to make decisions about what medical procedures are allowed in their states, and that this includes the ability to ban procedures they deem dangerous or morally objectionable.”

Walsh celebrated the court’s acknowledgment that there is a lack of scientific consensus regarding the long-term effects of these treatments on children. He argued that it is irresponsible to subject young, vulnerable individuals to irreversible medical interventions when the potential risks and benefits are still not fully understood.
In his tweet, Walsh wrote, “It is completely unreasonable to expect taxpayers to pay for these untested experiments on children, especially when there’s no good data to demonstrate their safety or efficacy.” He added that the court’s ruling puts the well-being of children first and protects them from becoming “guinea pigs” in the pursuit of a radical ideology.
3/ It is completely unreasonable to expect taxpayers to pay for these untested experiments on children, especially when there’s no good data to demonstrate their safety or efficacy. The court correctly recognizes that we should not be treating kids as guinea pigs for a radical ideology.

However, critics argue that the court’s ruling may limit the options available to transgender children and their families, potentially denying them access to crucial healthcare services. They contend that gender-affirming treatments, when provided in a supportive and informed manner, can alleviate the distress experienced by transgender youth and improve their overall well-being.
The debate over the legality and ethics of gender treatments for children is far from over. While the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision has been hailed by those who believe in limiting medical interventions for gender-confused children, it has also faced strong criticism from advocates who argue for a more expansive understanding of gender identity and the need for appropriate healthcare services for transgender youth.
As the issue continues to be hotly debated, it is crucial to prioritize the well-being and best interests of children, relying on rigorous scientific research and thoughtful ethical considerations. While a court ruling can provide legal clarity, it is essential to ensure that the rights and experiences of transgender children are given due consideration in any decision that affects their lives and access to healthcare.
