A congressman was carjacked‍ by attackers ‍just outside of the U.S. Capitol.

U.S. Representative‌ Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) was robbed by three armed attackers but was ⁢unharmed, ‌his office​ said on Monday.

The Texas Democrat’s chief of staff ‍Jacob Holberg said in a ​statement ​on ‍Monday night:‌ “As Congressman Cuellar was ‍parking his car⁤ this evening, 3 ⁣armed assailants approached the Congressman and stole his vehicle. Luckily, he ⁢was not harmed and is working with local law ⁤enforcement.”

According to The‍ Washington Post, the robbery of Cuellar happened in Washington’s ​Navy Yard, which​ is approximately a⁢ mile outside of the U.S. Capitol.

The robbery of Cuellar makes it the second assault on a member of Congress to happen in the District of Columbia this year. Democrat Representative Angie Craig (D-Minn) in February was assaulted in her apartment building and suffered bruises.

In November, Cuellar was re-elected to a 10th term in Congress. His district⁤ extends from the⁣ Rio Grande to San Antonio.
