According to the Russian president, “The West always needs an enemy.” He vehemently denied initiating the so-called war in Ukraine, asserting that Russia is actively working towards its resolution. “Our counterparts in the West have lost touch with reality and have crossed all boundaries,” Putin stated, highlighting Russia’s counteroffensive stance.

Contrary to popular belief, Putin denied that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was driven by territorial ambitions. Instead, he emphasized that the war is fought over the fundamental principles that will underpin the new world order.
Putin outlined the prerequisites for ending the conflict, stating, ”Lasting peace can only be achieved when everyone feels secure, their opinions are respected, and there is a balance in the world. No one should have the power to dictate how others live or behave, like a hegemon.”
Since its establishment in 2004, Putin has been engaging with experts from the Valdai Club, and the recent meeting was attended by 140 experts, politicians, and diplomats from 42 countries worldwide.
