San Francisco is taking a bold approach in its transgender guaranteed income program, prioritizing “Black, Indigenous, and People of Color” (BIPOC) recipients. But that’s not all – the program also extends its support to sex workers, illegal immigrants, and ex-convicts.
According to documents obtained by Judicial Watch, San Francisco’s Guaranteed Income for Transgender People (GIFT) program, which was implemented last year, specifically gives preference to “Black and Latinx transgender women.” It also prioritizes individuals who have been “formerly incarcerated,” engage in “survival sex trades,” or are “undocumented.”
The program aims to address financial insecurity by providing a monthly stipend of $1,200 for up to 18 months to low-income transgender residents of San Francisco, as stated in a March 2022 document.
Enrollment goals for GIFT have been set at 55 participants, with a requirement of being ”66% BIPOC, at least 30% Black Trans Women, and at least 20% Latinx Trans Women,” as outlined in the documents.
It’s worth noting that GIFT is not the only race-based welfare initiative in San Francisco. Other programs include the Black Economic Equity Movement, which provides monthly payments of $500 to black young adults, and the city-run Abundant Birth Project, which offers $1,000 a month to “Black and Pacific Islander mothers,” as reported by the Washington Free Beacon.
“These disturbing new documents confirm how, among other leftist extremist policies, San Francisco is abusing tax dollars to give cash to individuals based on race and transgender quotas,” expressed Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton in a statement.
