Climate activists’ street stunt goes awry on busy road.

This is a story about idiot climate protesters,⁣ but let’s start with a different idiotic protest: the national anthem ⁢protests that rocked the NFL in 2016.

Then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback ⁢Colin Kaepernick sparked a wave of controversy when he began⁤ kneeling during the recital of “The ⁢Star-Spangled Banner.”

He invited others ⁤to join him,‌ and some partook in the ⁢stunt.

Kaepernick has long claimed that he engaged in these protests ⁢to combat racial injustice and push‍ police reforms.

Two quick ⁢thoughts on‌ that:

  1. Racial injustice and police reforms are two incredibly uncomfortable, and yet ‌incredibly worthwhile, conversations to have.
  2. There is, quite⁢ literally, no ‌worse way to begin‌ any conversation, ⁣especially an uncomfortable one, with a person than by spitting in that person’s face.

The national anthem protests were widely ‍derided as being disrespectful to the American flag,⁣ so‍ nobody wanted to speak with Kaepernick about⁤ his concerns — they just wanted⁢ to yell at ⁤him in anger.

And can you blame⁣ them?⁤ When the conversation begins with disrespect, ⁣perceived or otherwise, it’s difficult to wring anything of substance from it. There’s just anger and annoyance.

Seven years later, it ⁤appears leftists have learned nothing about tact or the art of persuasion, at least based on the childish stunts from a climate activist group calling itself ‌Climáximo.

According to the Portugal Resident, nine members of that group were ⁢arrested Tuesday after they plastered their behinds to ⁢a busy highway in the Portuguese capital to block traffic — a familiar tactic adopted by many people‌ who claim to‌ be fighting for the⁤ planet.

The stunt mucked up traffic on Lisbon’s Segunda⁢ Circular, and it⁢ was during ‍rush hour to maximize the nuisance they were causing, according ⁣to Fox‍ News.

As to what they were‌ protesting, Climáximo bragged about this ⁢little caper on‌ social ⁤media and claimed to⁤ be fighting against “the government and companies” that have “declared war on people ⁣and the planet,” according to a Google translation.

Now, ⁢the⁢ video the group shared⁢ tried to lionize the protesters — right up until ‌they were dragged ‍off the street and authorities ⁢showed up. Then, ‌all ⁤of a sudden, the proceedings‌ were ⁢mysteriously de-emphasized.

But fret not, others on ‌social media posted a⁤ viral clip of these irritating protesters being forcibly torn from the streets, but fair warning: It’s ‌pretty rich with⁢ schadenfreude.

In the above viral clip, which had garnered more than 82,000 likes ‍as of Friday afternoon, you ⁣can see a group of clearly agitated motorists banding together to physically remove the protesters ⁢and their ‌signage.

Look, not unlike racial injustice and police reforms, environmental conservation ‌is an uncomfortable and worthwhile ⁣topic for‌ discussion.

But these discussions‍ need to be nuanced ⁢debates about how to be⁢ good stewards (whether it’s of our fellow man or of this God-given Earth) of the future without actively harming or weighing down present ⁤society.

That nuance is impossible to ⁣find when you’re just ⁢angering people ⁣out of the gate.⁢ Nobody wants to talk about criminal justice ‍reform or environmental conservationism when they’re 20 minutes late to their fifth 10-hour shift⁢ in⁣ eight⁢ days.

And until the left‌ learns this, ‌these little stunts of theirs will never be anything more than just that — little stunts.

A Note ‌from Our Deputy Managing Editor:

What if you woke up one ‌morning and half of the⁢ people you count on had just vanished overnight?

That happened to me recently. ⁢I got up, came to work here at The⁣ Western Journal, and⁤ when I got to my office, literally half‌ of our ‍readers had vanished. They were just gone. We had been ⁢nuked by Facebook,⁣ and it had happened almost instantly.

But it was even worse. Facebook hit⁤ us at ⁣the same ‍time 90 percent⁣ of advertisers had essentially boycotted us. “Brutal”⁢ is a word I’ve used a‌ lot lately.

The fight for the truth ⁣is brutal. The fight‍ for America’s soul is ‌brutal. What the government is ⁣doing to Jan. 6 detainees is brutal. What surgeons ⁤are ‌doing to confused children ‌is brutal.

It’s a fight we must win. ⁣But we can’t win without you.

A subscription⁤ to The Western Journal will‍ go much farther than you ⁤think. It costs less than a cup ⁢of Starbucks coffee,⁢ and for that small price you get access to ALL of our content news, commentary, and premium articles you’ll⁢ experience a radically reduced number of ads, and most importantly you‍ will be vitally supporting the fight against ‌leftism.

Can I count on you to subscribe today? ⁢ We need your help. Benjamin Franklin summed up ‍the situation we’re all facing ⁢when ⁣he said, “We must all hang together, or, most ‌assuredly, we shall all hang⁤ separately.”

We plan⁢ to hang in and fight. Please ‌help us. Please subscribe today.

Sincerely,

What alternative approaches ⁣can activists take to address environmental ‌issues and engage in meaningful dialogue with policymakers and businesses

Ade: esta guerra é apoiada⁤ pelos governos ⁢e ⁣empresas, que ⁤todos os dias atacam os direitos dos trabalhadores e destroem o clima.

Translation: “Every hour that passes,⁣ the ‌government and companies⁣ condemn a thousand more people to death. They are destroying everything we love. We have to face the reality: this war is supported by governments and companies,‌ who attack workers’ rights⁢ and destroy the climate every day.”

Let’s address the two quick ‌thoughts from earlier⁤ again:

  1. The fight against climate ‌change⁢ and the need for environmental‌ reforms are crucial conversations to have.
  2. There is, quite⁢ literally, no ‌worse way to begin‌ any conversation, ⁣especially an uncomfortable one, ‍with a person⁣ than by purposely inconveniencing and disrespecting others.

Just like the national anthem protests in ⁢the NFL, the ‌actions of the Climáximo activists have only served⁣ to alienate and anger people rather ⁤than engage ‌them in meaningful dialogue ⁤about climate change and environmental concerns.

Blocking a busy highway during rush hour is not only disruptive, but⁤ it also puts people’s safety at risk. It creates frustration and annoyance among the affected commuters, who may actually share the same concerns‌ about the environment. Instead of opening a door for conversation, these activists have only succeeded in painting themselves as irrational and‌ self-centered individuals.

By declaring a war against the government and companies,⁤ the activists fail to recognize that ‍cooperation and collaboration are⁢ vital in addressing⁣ environmental issues. It’s important to work together to ‍find practical and sustainable solutions, instead of resorting to attention-grabbing stunts that yield⁢ little more than negative attention.

If these protesters truly want to make a difference,‌ they should ⁣focus their efforts on advocating for policies and practices that promote environmental sustainability, engage in constructive dialogue with policymakers and businesses, and inspire ‌others⁤ to take concrete⁣ actions towards protecting the planet.

Effective ⁢activism lies in the ability to communicate, educate, and inspire change. It is built on understanding ‌and respect, not on disruption and disrespect. If these‌ lessons are not learned and‍ applied, the fight for climate justice will ⁢continue to suffer from ⁢the same pitfalls that ⁢have plagued other ⁤protest movements.

While ⁢passionate activism is necessary and admirable, it should be channeled in constructive ways that encourage dialogue and collaboration. ⁣By doing so, we can create a future where meaningful change ‌is accomplished through understanding, respect, and collective effort.
