Israel must strive for nothing less than complete victory on its own version of 9/11.

Israel’s‌ Existential Peril: A Call for Extraordinary Action

It is a dark ⁢day⁣ in Israel. Tomorrow should be a dark day in Gaza. Today, almost all‍ the world says it supports Israel’s right to defend itself against this unprovoked assault, the kidnapping of its citizens and ‌the rape of its women. We suspect that unity will soon fade.

Whether the IDF destroys two buildings or two hundred in Palestinian territory, the Arab propaganda⁢ apparatus will generate the same outraged response from its global allies and calls for a measured and‍ proportional ⁣response will ⁣soon come from anti-Semites on the Left and Right.

We hope Israel, in⁤ this moment of existential peril, will ignore them. If Gazans wake up to piles of smoking rubble, it will demonstrate to Hamas and ⁤the rest of the Arab world the consequences of their unending war against Israel.

President Joe Biden, we understand, told Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he will get⁣ whatever‍ support he needs in the war to come, ⁢and we expect Democrats⁢ and Republicans⁣ to hold him to that.

For the past ‌several years, Israel has treated its foes as a ⁣weakened and constrained ‍enemy subject to unwritten but clear boundaries–Operation Breaking Dawn,⁣ Operation Wall Guardian, Operation Protective⁣ Edge. That was folly. Israel⁢ cannot exist in a world where it‍ is subject to attack like this. As a result, the response should be ‍extraordinary, huge, and final. Hamas must be eradicated, ‌not taught a lesson.

Another weak and partial ‍solution will mean that Israel declines and fades ⁣as a nation. What⁤ tech expert, executive, or highly-educated person will want ⁢to‍ live in a nation where this can happen? It will lose its⁤ most valuable citizens.

It is a ⁣precious thing for a country to have a military whose strength,‍ intelligence, and reliability, discourages war-making against it, and it would be a catastrophe if the perception and reality of Israel’s military were to ⁢be replaced by incompetence, weakness, and lack of vision.

On Israel’s 9/11, we hope the recent carelessness and frivolity of its politics and military ⁤apparatus turns on a dime, or a shekel, and that the Jewish State marshals all the forces of innovation ⁢and creative energy into a determined path to victory and ⁣unconditional surrender – not ‌just the status quo ante.

How has Israel demonstrated restraint in its response to the constant threat it faces, and why is it still criticized for its defensive actions?

Ponse. Israel will be condemned, ‌accused of ‍war crimes, and subjected to ‍calls for international isolation and boycotts. It‌ is a familiar pattern that has repeated itself time and time ⁢again.

What is different ⁤this time is the gravity of⁢ the situation. Israel is ‌facing an existential ‍peril, a‍ threat to its very existence as a ⁣Jewish state. Hamas, ⁤the terrorist organization ruling Gaza, has made its intentions clear: the destruction of Israel and the killing of its citizens. And ⁣they are actively pursuing this through a relentless barrage ‍of rockets, tunnels, and terrorist attacks.

Israel, in response, has shown remarkable restraint. Despite ‍the constant threat to its people, it ‍has always sought to minimize civilian casualties, taking extraordinary measures to warn residents before‍ striking targets. The Iron Dome defense system has saved countless lives, intercepting hundreds of rockets heading towards populated areas. Yet, Israel is still‍ criticized for its defensive actions.

The world’s failure to fully comprehend the gravity of ⁣this situation is⁢ a testament to its own ignorance and bias. Israel is not an aggressor; it is a nation‍ fighting for ⁣its survival. The international community must recognize this and take⁣ extraordinary action to support Israel in its time of ⁢need.

First⁢ and foremost,‌ the United Nations must condemn Hamas unequivocally. No equivocation or half-hearted statements will suffice. The world must‌ make it clear that ⁣terrorism in any form is⁤ unacceptable and ‌that those who ⁢practice it will face consequences. The UN must also rally other nations to support Israel in its fight‍ against terrorism, providing financial, military, and diplomatic assistance.

Secondly, countries that have diplomatic ties with Hamas, such as Iran and Qatar, must be held accountable ‌for their support of terrorism. These ‌nations cannot be allowed to fund and arm a ⁢terrorist organization that seeks the destruction⁢ of another sovereign state. Sanctions and other measures should be imposed to cut off the flow of resources to Hamas.

Thirdly, the international media ⁣must provide fair and balanced coverage of the conflict. Too often, we see biased reporting that portrays Israel as an‌ aggressor and ‌Hamas as‌ a victim. The ⁢truth is far from ⁣that. Journalists must strive to present the facts objectively and hold both sides accountable for their actions.

Lastly, individuals and organizations around the world must‌ show their support for Israel. Boycotts and divestments ‌only serve to weaken Israel’s position and embolden its enemies. Instead, people should actively engage⁢ in dialogue, understand the complexities of the conflict, and work towards‍ peaceful resolutions.

Israel is not alone in this fight. It is ⁢a battle that concerns⁣ us all. If we allow terrorism to prevail in the Middle ‍East, it will not stop there. Extremism and violence will spread like wildfire, ⁤threatening the stability and security of the entire world.

The time ⁤for ordinary action has passed. This is a moment that calls for extraordinary measures. The world must stand with Israel, unequivocally support its right to defend itself, and take decisive⁣ action against those who seek its⁣ destruction. Failure to do so will have far-reaching consequences that we cannot afford to ‌ignore.

Let history⁤ judge us not by ⁢our words, but by our actions in this critical hour.
