In a captivating video shared by Vivek Ramaswamy on X, the Republican presidential candidate sheds light on the alarming security vulnerabilities at the U.S.-Canada border. This revelation unveils how illegal immigrants can effortlessly slip through without being detected by border officials.
Ramaswamy expresses his astonishment, stating, “This was *wild.* Right at the U.S. Northern Border port of entry, there are two signs. One says ‘Prepare to Stop.’ The other one points to a ’Hiking Trail.'” He follows the hiking trail sign, which leads into the woods, completely bypassing the official ports of entry on both sides of the border.
During the video, the 38-year-old entrepreneur explains how this ”Hiking Trail” provides a simple method for illegal entry into the U.S., evading the official U.S. Customs and Border Protection checkpoints.
Local sheriffs inform Ramaswamy that individuals can easily cross over vast stretches of land on the other side of the hiking trail, followed by a shallow creek that grants them access to the rest of New Hampshire. This revelation highlights the shift of attention from the Southern Border to the Northern Border by many illegal immigrants who have been turned away.

In addition to the humanitarian crisis at the southern U.S.-Mexico border, the northern border is also witnessing a surge in migration. Individuals who have been unable to enter through the southern border or have previously been deported are now attempting to enter through Canada.

Last month, Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia of the United States Border Patrol’s Swanton Sector revealed that his agents had apprehended over 6,100 individuals in the past 11 months. These apprehensions, spanning across Vermont, New York, and New Hampshire, surpass the total number of apprehensions in the previous decade.

Meanwhile, Ramaswamy is one of several Republican candidates striving to revitalize their presidential campaigns, as Donald Trump maintains a dominant lead in the race for the nomination. According to The New York Times, Ramaswamy proposes securing the border through any means necessary, including military force, and aims to deport all undocumented immigrants while blocking any path to legal residence or citizenship.
