“What happened last week I completely disagree with.​ It was eight Republicans joining with all the Democrats in the House and basically⁣ throwing the gavel on the floor and saying it’s now up for grabs for ‍anyone that wants it. This is ⁢not a serious thing to do when⁢ you control the House of Representatives,” Greene said. ‍”And no matter how you feel about‍ Kevin​ McCarthy, I can tell you I was getting⁣ things accomplished.”

While acknowledging⁣ McCarthy’s contributions during his ⁢time as speaker, Greene mentioned that she was able ⁢to achieve certain⁤ goals under his ⁣leadership, such as deducting money for Ukraine from the ⁤defense ‍bill and initiating an​ impeachment inquiry. However, she did not disclose ⁣her support for either Jordan or ⁢Scalise, instead outlining a​ list of demands that a ⁢speaker must meet in ⁣order to earn⁣ her vote.

“I serve the American people and right now these transgender surgeries on⁢ kids⁣ is awful. I serve the American⁣ people, and I ​don’t think our tax dollars should fund a⁢ war‌ in Ukraine. I serve the American people, and I want our border secure. I serve the American people, and I⁤ want our government to⁣ stop being⁤ weaponized against the American people,” Greene stated.

Greene expressed‍ her hope that a new speaker‌ will be ⁢named by Friday. McCarthy’s speakership was the shortest in over a​ century, lasting‌ just over nine months. He succeeded Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who served for nearly eight years.
