After the vote, Rep. Thomas Massie revealed that there⁣ are at least 20⁢ GOP members who will not support Scalise. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also announced her support for Jordan, stating that​ Scalise should focus on ‌his battle with cancer instead ⁤of⁤ pursuing the speakership.

Florida⁢ GOP Rep.⁤ Anna Paulina Luna⁢ also withdrew her support⁢ for Scalise, stating ⁢that there is no ​consensus ​candidate for⁤ speaker and ‌that the party needs ​more time to figure out a solution.

McCarthy was asked if he preferred Jordan ⁢for the speakership, but he emphasized that the decision‍ is up ‌to the conference. However, he did‌ stress that time is​ running out for Scalise to secure the role.

Jordan has ‌offered ‍to give the nominating speech for Scalise, highlighting his belief⁣ that Scalise is the right person for the​ job.
