3 people were stabbed at Atlanta Airport and a woman has been taken into custody.
Knife-Wielding Woman Goes on Rampage at Atlanta Airport
A terrifying incident unfolded at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when a woman armed with a knife went on a violent spree, leaving a trail of chaos in her wake. According to a police report, the assailant first targeted a taxi driver as he was driving down the interstate, stabbing him in the upper chest before snatching his phone and tossing it out the window.
The mayhem didn’t end there. The woman then made her way to the airport, where she continued her rampage. She slashed an airline employee and a police lieutenant, causing serious injuries. Fortunately, another officer bravely intervened and managed to tackle the assailant, bringing her reign of terror to an end.
The 44-year-old woman now faces four counts of aggravated assault and is currently held in the Clayton County Jail without bond. As of now, no attorney has been listed to provide a comment on the charges, according to online court records.
Chaos ensued at the airport as word spread of a knife-wielding woman on the loose. Atlanta police officers swiftly responded to the situation, with two of them spotting the assailant. As they trailed her, one officer witnessed her viciously attack a Delta Air Lines employee, leaving a deep cut on her chest.
Law enforcement attempted to subdue the assailant using Tasers, but their efforts fell short. The woman refused to drop the knife, prompting another officer to fire his Taser, although it remains unclear if it made contact with her. In a desperate move, a police lieutenant deployed pepper spray, but unfortunately slipped on the sprayed surface, giving the woman an opportunity to stab him in the leg.
Thankfully, the situation was brought under control when another officer bravely tackled the armed woman, apprehending her. Immediate medical attention was provided to the injured parties, with one officer applying a tourniquet to the police lieutenant’s leg and another administering a chest seal to the taxi driver’s chest to stop the bleeding. All three victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
As of Thursday, the police lieutenant has been discharged from the hospital and is on the road to recovery. In response to this shocking incident, Atlanta police have announced increased patrols throughout the airport to ensure the safety of travelers and staff.
