Rep. Tlaib faces censure demand for backing pro-Palestine protest at Capitol Hill.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls for Congress to Censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib
In a fiery statement on October 18, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) demanded that Congress censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), labeling her a “terrorist sympathizer.” Greene’s comments came after Tlaib participated in a protest at Capital Hill, organized by the radical Global Intifada group and anti-Israel activists JVP.
“Today [Tlaib] followed Hezbollah’s orders for a ‘day of unprecedented anger.’ She organized the occupation of the Cannon office building with radical Global Intifada group and anti-Israel activists JVP,” Ms. Greene posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Tlaib is a terrorist sympathizer and does not belong in congress!”
Not stopping there, Greene also announced her intention to introduce a censure resolution against Tlaib. She expressed her belief that even Democrats would join in, stating, “After what she did today, I expect even Democrats will join in. She is an Israel hating America hating woman who does not represent anything America stands for.”

In other news, Hamas accused Israel of an airstrike on a hospital in Gaza earlier this week. However, the Israel Defense Forces denied responsibility, and the White House confirmed that Israel was not to blame for the attack. This incident followed the recent massacre of Israeli civilians by Hamas terrorists.
On October 18, a large group of demonstrators demanding an Israeli cease-fire entered the Cannon House office building, resulting in several arrests by Capitol police.
Protesters had gathered outside the Capitol, urging Congress to take action to end the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Prior to the protesters entering the Capitol, Tlaib and Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) addressed the crowd, calling on President Joe Biden to work towards an immediate ceasefire.
Tlaib, who is of Palestinian descent and a vocal advocate for Palestinian statehood, attended the event and shared an image of herself with the protesters. It is unclear whether she entered the Cannon building with them.
“I wish all the Palestinian people would see this. I wish they could see that not all of America want them to die. That they are not disposable, that they have a right to live,” said Ms. Tlaib, the only current Palestinian-American member of Congress.
Videos taken by Epoch Times reporters inside the Cannon building show protesters chanting, “Cease fire now!”
Greene is also demanding that Capitol police preserve security footage and arrest records from the House demonstration, comparing it to the breach on January 6. She shared a copy of the letter she sent to U.S. Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger, requesting the preservation of all relevant evidence.
Describing the protest as an “insurrection,” Greene draws parallels to the events of January 6 at the Capitol. She emphasizes the disruption caused by the demonstrators and calls for a thorough investigation and prosecution of those involved.
Representatives for Capitol Police have not yet responded to The Epoch Times’s request for comment.
What are the contrasting views within the US Congress regarding the actions of Representative Rashida Tlaib in relation to the conflict?
Dent further escalated tensions between Israel and the Palestinian territories. The ongoing conflict has sparked various reactions and debates around the world, including within the United States Congress.
On October 18, Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene took a strong stance against Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib. In a statement filled with fiery rhetoric, Greene labeled Tlaib a “terrorist sympathizer” and called for Congress to censure her.
Greene’s comments were in response to Tlaib’s participation in a protest at the Capitol Hill organized by the radical Global Intifada group and anti-Israel activists from the organization Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP). Greene accused Tlaib of organizing the occupation of the Cannon office building, following “Hezbollah’s orders for a ‘day of unprecedented anger.'”
Taking her critique a step further, Greene announced her intention to introduce a censure resolution against Tlaib. She expressed her belief that even Democrats would join in, stating that Tlaib is an “Israel-hating, America-hating woman who does not represent anything America stands for.”
The heated confrontation between Greene and Tlaib highlights the deep divisions and contrasting views within the US Congress regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. While Tlaib has been an outspoken critic of Israel’s policies towards Palestinians, Greene’s staunch support for Israel and condemnation of Tlaib’s actions reflect the sentiments of many Republicans.
It remains to be seen how the censure resolution against Tlaib will unfold in Congress. Censure is a formal reprimand by a legislative body for misconduct or inappropriate behavior. If successful, it would serve as a public condemnation of Tlaib’s actions.
In recent years, censure resolutions have become more common in Congress as a means to hold members accountable for their actions or statements. However, passing such a resolution requires a majority vote in the House of Representatives, where Democrats currently hold the majority.
This clash between Greene and Tlaib is part of a broader debate about US foreign policy towards Israel and the Palestinian territories. It reflects the ongoing struggle to find a balanced approach while addressing human rights concerns and maintaining strong alliances in the region.
As tensions continue to rise in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it is essential for representatives like Greene and Tlaib to engage in constructive dialogue and seek common ground. While differences in opinion are inevitable, it is through open and respectful discussion that progress can be made toward peace and understanding.
In conclusion, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s call for Congress to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib underscores the deep divisions within the US Congress regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This clash highlights the ongoing struggle to find a balanced approach to foreign policy in the region.
