The Biden Administration’s Controversial Immigration App
The Biden administration has opened the floodgates for migrants entering the country with the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) One App.

According to the Washington Examiner, Central American cartels have found a way to manipulate the app using virtual private networks (VPN) to smuggle people across the border. By concealing their true location, migrants can schedule appointments even if they are far from northern Mexico.
This exploitation of the app has led to a significant increase in border encounters by U.S. authorities. Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee have revealed shocking numbers, showing that the vast majority of migrants who scheduled appointments through the app were ultimately released into the United States. Among those released are individuals from Venezuela, Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Afghanistan, China, and Iran.
House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green has criticized Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for abusing the CBP One app, stating that it has become a smokescreen for mass releases of individuals into the country without proper vetting.
“These numbers are proof that Mayorkas’ operation is a smokescreen for the mass release of individuals into this country who would otherwise have zero claim to be admitted. At a time when global tensions are rising, and our enemies are growing bolder, releasing tens of thousands of these people into our communities—especially when they have not received adequate, if any, vetting—is irresponsible.”
Furthermore, the CBP has warned about the potential for radical Islamic terrorists to exploit the open border. A memo from the San Diego Field Office’s Intelligence Unit reported by Fox News highlighted the risk of terrorists using the Southwest border as a transit route.
An intelligence assessment from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) also emphasized the potential for terrorists to take advantage of the increased flow of migrants and the complex security environment to enter the United States.
Recent immigration numbers from DHS have revealed record-breaking figures, with a surge in migrants crossing the border last month. Alarmingly, September saw the highest number of individuals on the terror watch list entering the country. CBP data shows that 169 non-U.S. citizens on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database were apprehended along the southern border, and a record number of potential terrorists were recorded at ports of entry in fiscal year 2023.
