Reporter Openly Mocks Dem Congressman Dodging Questions on the Border: ’Nice Fake Phone’
A reporter attempted to confront Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego of Arizona on Wednesday in Washington regarding the ongoing border crisis.
During the questioning, Gallego cleverly pretended to take a fake phone call, avoiding the reporter’s inquiries.
Ben Bergquam, host of “Law & Border” on Real America’s Voice News, shared the amusing 30-second exchange on the social media platform X.
“Confronting Cartel Congressman Ruben Gallego in Washington DC,” Bergquam said in the post. “Every open borders democrat needs to be asked this question ‘are you paid off by the cartels or are you selling out America for free?’”

As soon as the congressman heard his name called, he swiftly pulled out his phone and pretended to engage in a conversation.
“Nice fake phone,” Bergquam remarked as he continued to question Gallego.
“Are you paid off by the cartel or are you selling out America for free?” he asked, but the congressman ignored the question and walked away.
“Sir, are you paid off by the cartels? How much are they paying you, sir? How many terrorists is it okay to let through the southern border?” Bergquam persisted.
“The fake phone, that’s the best. The fake phone call,” he chuckled as the congressman carried on.
The September report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection revealed a record high of 269,735 border encounters for the month.
Bergquam also questioned Gallego about his concerns regarding GOP firebrand Kari Lake.
The Democrat is running for the Senate seat currently held by independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema. Lake, who lost her bid for Arizona governor last year, is one of several GOP candidates in the race.
Recently, Lake and Gallego had an exchange on an airplane while traveling back to Arizona.
Lake criticized the congressman for the nation’s border and fentanyl crisis.

How did Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego of Arizona respond to Reporter Ben Bergquam’s inquiries regarding the ongoing border crisis?
Reporter Ben Bergquam, host of “Law & Border” on Real America’s Voice News, recently attempted to confront Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego of Arizona regarding the ongoing border crisis. However, instead of engaging in a meaningful conversation, Gallego cleverly pretended to take a fake phone call, evading the reporter’s inquiries.
The amusing 30-second exchange was shared on the social media platform X by Bergquam, who called Gallego a “Cartel Congressman” and questioned whether he is paid off by the cartels or if he is selling out America for free. As soon as Gallego heard his name called, he swiftly pulled out his phone and pretended to engage in a conversation. Bergquam sarcastically remarked, “Nice fake phone,” as he continued to question Gallego about his alleged ties to cartels. However, the congressman ignored the question and walked away.
Bergquam persistently asked Gallego about his connection to cartels and how many terrorists it is acceptable to let through the southern border. He chuckled and commented, “The fake phone, that’s the best. The fake phone call,” as the congressman carried on with his attempt to avoid the questions.
This encounter took place amidst a significant increase in border encounters, as reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in September. The numbers revealed a record high of 269,735 border encounters for the month, highlighting the severity of the ongoing border crisis.
Bergquam also questioned Gallego about his concerns regarding GOP candidate Kari Lake, who is running for the Senate seat currently held by independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema. Lake, who lost her bid for Arizona governor last year, is one of several GOP candidates in the race. Recently, Lake and Gallego had an exchange on an airplane while traveling back to Arizona, where Lake criticized Gallego for the nation’s border and fentanyl crisis.
The incident with Gallego openly dodging questions raises concerns about transparency and accountability among politicians. It is essential for representatives to address the issues raised by journalists and engage in constructive dialogue with the public. Dodging questions through tactics such as pretending to take a fake phone call only serves to undermine public trust and convey a lack of willingness to address concerns.
The American people deserve elected officials who are committed to transparency, honesty, and accountability. Instances like these, where politicians evade legitimate questions, only further fuel skepticism and disillusionment among the public. It is crucial for journalists and citizens alike to continue to hold elected officials accountable and demand transparency in order to ensure that the needs and concerns of the American people are addressed.
