GOP Governor welcomes return of National Guard troops deployed to Southern border.
Republican Governor Welcomes Back National Guard Troops Deployed to Southern Border
Thanks to Joe Biden’s disastrous presidency and the resulting apocalyptic illegal immigration crisis, some Republican governors have taken matters into their own hands by sending their state’s military and law enforcement forces to help secure the southern border.
This week, Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa welcomed back 109 Iowa National Guard troops and 31 state Department of Public Safety officers who had been deployed to Texas in response to a request from Governor Greg Abbott.
Speaking at a news conference, Reynolds expressed her frustration with Biden’s inaction, stating, “The president’s failure to respond to this crisis has had catastrophic consequences for the American people.”
During their deployment, the Iowa soldiers worked alongside the Texas National Guard and federal law enforcement to apprehend transnational criminals and deter illegal border crossings. Their efforts resulted in the apprehension of 1,700 illegal migrants and the surrender of another 1,241.
Reynolds used $1.93 million from Iowa’s American Rescue Plan funding to finance the mission, highlighting the fact that Iowa taxpayers are footing the bill for border security in Texas due to the Biden administration’s refusal to act.
The deployment was made possible through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), an interstate mutual aid agreement that allows states to share resources during crises and disasters.

Reynolds emphasized the necessity of the mission, citing the devastating drug epidemic in Iowa caused by the influx of illicit drugs through the southern border. She stated, “As Governor, I have a responsibility to protect the safety and well-being of Iowans, and that starts with protecting the border.”
Under Biden’s failed leadership, every state in the nation is vulnerable to the crime and destruction unleashed by the border disaster. Stephan Bayens, the commissioner of the Iowa Department of Public Safety, highlighted the impact on Iowa, stating, “The challenges our nation is facing at the border are affecting every corner of this state in ways that few understand.”
According to the governor’s office, Iowa has experienced a 500% increase in fentanyl seizures, 100% increase in meth seizures, and a 35% increase in drug-related deaths from 2020 to 2022.
It is outrageous that American taxpayers are funding federal agencies like U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to protect the border, while Biden wastes taxpayer-funded resources to block the enforcement of immigration laws he helped pass as a senator.
It is clear that Biden’s migrant crisis is so severe that even states far from the border, like Iowa, are compelled to deploy their forces to protect their residents.
What a waste of tax money and public resources!
