Mike Johnson supports investigations into Biden and plans for the future.
New House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) Calls for Continued Investigations into President Joe Biden
During a Sunday interview on Fox News, host Maria Bartiromo asked Johnson if he would dedicate “financial resources and human capital” for an “in-depth” probe. She also asked if the overarching impeachment inquiry into allegations of corruption, launched before Johnson became speaker, would become an “official” impeachment.
“We’ll see, Maria. You know, I worked on the committees of jurisdiction. And Judiciary is one of those,” Johnson said during his “Sunday Morning Futures” appearance less than a week after being elected speaker by his peers.

“I think our chairmen have done an exceptional job. You have spoken to all of them, Jamie [James] Comer and Jim Jordan and Jason Smith, on Oversight and Judiciary and Ways and Means. They continued those investigations even while we were going through the tumult of the speaker’s race. They were still working methodically through that. I’m encouraging that,” he added.
“I think we have a constitutional responsibility to follow this truth where it leads. We’re the rule of law team. We don’t use this for political, partisan games, like the Democrats have done and did against [former] Donald Trump twice,” Johnson said.
“We are going to follow the law and follow the Constitution,” the speaker said. “And I think we — you and I have a suspicion of where that may lead. But we’re going to let the evidence speak for itself. And I look forward to rolling that out over the coming days and weeks and letting the American people see exactly why we’re taking the next steps and where it’s headed.”
Johnson’s predecessor, now-former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), announced an impeachment inquiry into Biden in mid-September. Biden, who is running for a second term in the White House, and his allies have denied that he committed any wrongdoing and claimed that Republicans are trying to serve up “red meat” for the base.
Bartiromo also pressed Johnson on whether he expected to subpoena Hunter Biden, the son of the president whose business dealings have attracted scrutiny and is separately facing a criminal inquiry run by the Department of Justice.

“I’m looking at that,” Johnson said. “I think that desperate times call for desperate measures, and that perhaps is overdue. We have not made a full decision yet. I’m counseling with the attorneys involved on all of this to see what the contours of — I’m an attorney myself, so I speak the language. We’re trying to move forward on some of this very aggressively.”
He continued, “I think the American people are owed these answers. And I think our suspicions about all this, the evidence that we have gathered so far, as you know, is affirming what many of us feared may be the worst. And, as Jamie Comer likes to say, bank records don’t lie. We already have a lot of this evidence. The dots are being connected. And we will see where it leads.”
How does new House Speaker Mike Johnson plan to ensure integrity and fairness in these investigations?
Rel=”noopener”>announced a formal impeachment inquiry against President Biden earlier this year. McCarthy alleged that Biden had abused his power and violated his oath of office. The inquiry was launched in response to allegations of corruption and ethical misconduct involving Biden and his family members.
Johnson, who was recently elected as the new House Speaker, has expressed his support for continuing these investigations into President Biden. During an interview on Fox News, Johnson was asked if he would allocate resources for an in-depth probe into the allegations. He responded by affirming that the committees of jurisdiction, including the Judiciary Committee, will continue their investigations.
Johnson praised the work of the committee chairs, highlighting their commitment to methodically uncovering the truth. He emphasized that their objective is not to engage in political games but to uphold the rule of law and follow the Constitution. Johnson pointed out that the Democrats had used impeachment as a partisan tool against former President Trump, but the Republicans would approach these investigations with integrity and fairness.
The new House Speaker stressed the importance of following the evidence and allowing it to speak for itself. He stated that he and Bartiromo have a suspicion about where the investigations might lead, but they are committed to presenting the American people with the facts. Johnson promised to roll out the evidence in the coming days and weeks, giving the public a clear understanding of the reasons behind the next steps.
It is worth noting that Johnson is continuing the efforts initiated by his predecessor, Kevin McCarthy, who launched a formal impeachment inquiry against President Biden. McCarthy argued that Biden had violated his oath of office and abused his power. These allegations of corruption and ethical misconduct against Biden and his family have been a subject of contention and debate.
The decision to continue the investigations reflects the Republican Party’s commitment to uncovering the truth and holding public officials accountable. While some may view this as a partisan move, Johnson has made it clear that their objective is to adhere to the rule of law and uphold the Constitution.
The investigations into President Biden will undoubtedly be closely followed by the public and contribute to the ongoing political discourse. As more evidence is presented, the American people will have the opportunity to evaluate the allegations and draw their own conclusions about the actions of their elected officials.
The role of the House Speaker is crucial in ensuring transparency and accountability within the government. Johnson’s commitment to investigating allegations of corruption and misconduct demonstrates his dedication to these principles. It remains to be seen how these investigations will unfold and what impact they will have on the political landscape in the coming months.
Overall, the call for continued investigations into President Biden by new House Speaker Mike Johnson reflects the ongoing concerns surrounding allegations of corruption and ethical misconduct. As the investigations progress, the American people will eagerly await the unveiling of evidence and its implications for the Biden administration. The actions of the House Speaker and the committees involved will play a significant role in shaping public opinion and determining the course of these investigations.
