Iowa poll reveals Trump leading primary field, Haley and DeSantis tied for second.

The ⁢ Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom poll reveals that ⁤43% of likely Republican caucus goers choose Trump as their top pick for president. In comparison, only 16% would choose either Nikki Haley or Ron DeSantis. Trump leads both Haley and DeSantis by a‍ significant 27% margin.

Trump’s support remains unwavering, with 63% of ‌caucus goers who favor him stating that they have made up their minds. ⁢In contrast, ⁣only‍ 30% and 26%⁤ of DeSantis ⁣and Haley supporters respectively have firmly decided. Furthermore, 87% of respondents who‌ choose Trump as their first choice are “extremely or very ‍enthusiastic” about caucusing for him.

“[DeSantis and Haley] are on shaky ground compared to the solid ground that ‍Donald Trump stands on,” says pollster J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co., which conducted the Iowa Poll.

“If anything, he’s showing‍ improvement.”

The⁣ poll also‍ reveals that Trump is widening the gap between ‌him and DeSantis among independent voters. In August, Trump led ⁣DeSantis ‌by only 2% among independent caucus goers, but now he has a commanding lead of 33% to⁢ 12%.

Additionally,⁤ Trump is the ⁢preferred choice for first-time ⁤caucus goers, with 49% ⁢selecting him as their top⁣ pick.
