Mike Johnson advocates for supporting Israel in the ongoing conflict, emphasizing the importance of distinguishing between good and evil.
House Speaker Mike Johnson: Aid to Israel is a Matter of Good versus Evil
In a powerful interview with Fox News’ Kayleigh McEnany, House Speaker Mike Johnson emphasized the urgent need to provide aid to Israel as it battles the terrorist group Hamas. Johnson boldly stated, “This is a matter of good versus evil.”
Seeking Common Ground: Stand-Alone Israel Aid Package
McEnany delved into the topic of a stand-alone Israel aid package, highlighting the upcoming vote scheduled for Thursday. She asked Johnson about the proposed $14.5 billion and the possibility of a bipartisan vote.
“I sure hope so,” Johnson replied, expressing his desire for bipartisan support.
Curious about the number of Democrats who might support the aid package, McEnany inquired further.
“I hope that it’s most or all of them,” Johnson responded. “I mean, there’s a few people who have philosophical differences on that and we’ll have some intense debates about their opposition to that. But, look, this is a matter of good versus evil.”
Redirecting Funds for Israel’s Urgent Needs
Johnson revealed his intention to repurpose funds allocated by the Biden administration for expanding the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to assist Israel. He explained, “My intention and my desire in the first draft of this bill is to take some of the money that has been set aside for the building and the bulking up of the IRS right now. We have about $67 billion in that fund and we’ll try to take the $14.5 necessary for this immediate and urgent need.”
Recognizing the Biden administration’s priority to strengthen the IRS, Johnson appealed to the American people’s judgment. He stated, “I think if you put this to the American people and they weigh the two needs — I think they’re going to say standing with Israel and protecting the innocent over there is in our national interest.”
President Biden secured $80 billion through the Inflation Reduction Act for IRS expansion, with approximately $21 billion removed as part of a debt ceiling deal in June.
Rep. Chip Roy’s Call to Action
Representative Chip Roy echoed the urgency to support Israel, tweeting, “To truly #StandWithIsrael, we should swiftly PASS a stand-alone $14BB Israel-only support package… & PAY FOR that support to ensure our own fiscal & military strength… & STOP FUNDING the soulless globalists (UN, e.g.) supporting Hamas, Iran, & our other common enemies.”

Why does Johnson stress the importance of standing united in the fight against terrorism and call for bipartisan support for the aid package
Plained that the $14.5 billion aid package is crucial for Israel to defend itself against Hamas, a terrorist group known for its indiscriminate rocket attacks on civilian areas. By redirecting funds from the IRS expansion, Johnson believes that the United States can provide immediate support to Israel in its time of need.
Johnson further emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “Israel is under attack as we speak. We have heard from Israel leaders who say they are running out of money for the Iron Dome system, which is the defense mechanism to intercept these rockets and protect Israeli citizens. And so, we’re not going to sit by and do nothing while Israel is facing an existential threat.”
He argued that supporting Israel in its battle against terrorism is not just a matter of politics, but a moral obligation. Johnson highlighted the historical relationship between the United States and Israel, rooted in shared values and a commitment to freedom and democracy. He expressed his belief that aiding Israel is not only in the best interest of the United States but aligns with its core principles.
United in the Fight Against Terrorism
Johnson stressed the importance of standing united in the fight against terrorism, stating, “This is not a time for partisanship. This is not a time for division. This is a time for unity in the defense of our closest ally.” He called for bipartisan support for the aid package and urged his colleagues to put aside any differences for the sake of Israel’s security.
In response to concerns about diverting funds from domestic matters, Johnson argued that the United States has a responsibility to support its allies, especially when they are under attack. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the Biden administration in allocating resources but stated that providing aid to Israel is a top priority.
A Matter of Good versus Evil
As the interview concluded, Johnson reiterated his belief that aiding Israel is a matter of good versus evil. He emphasized the need to stand with Israel in its fight against terrorism, stating, “We should all be on the side of those who are promoting peace, who are promoting freedom and democracy, and those who are standing against terrorism and this evil that we’re seeing right now.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson’s passionate appeal for aid to Israel underscores the significance of the current situation. It highlights not just the geopolitical importance of supporting Israel but also the moral imperative to stand against terrorism. As the United States grapples with difficult decisions, this interview serves as a reminder of the values that unite us and the importance of standing with our allies in times of crisis.
