Buck further emphasized his concerns in a video posted on his X account, stating, “Our nation is on a collision course with reality, and a steadfast commitment to truth, even uncomfortable truths, is the only way forward.”

This announcement comes shortly after Buck and several other Republican colleagues refused to support Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House. Buck criticized Jordan’s stance on defunding the Department of Justice, stating, “We pride ourselves on being a party of the rule of law.”
Buck is not the only Republican stepping away from politics, as Texas Rep. Kay Granger also announced her retirement from Congress. Granger, who also refused to vote for Jordan, expressed confidence in the next generation of leaders.
“As I announce my decision to not seek re-election, I am encouraged by the next generation of leaders in my district,” Granger said. “It’s time for the next generation to step up and be a strong and fierce representative for the people.”
