Students Stage Walkout During Hillary Clinton Lecture at Columbia University
A lecture by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at Columbia University took an unexpected turn on Wednesday when a group of students staged a walkout, according to reports from The New York Times. The students joined a larger group in the lobby of the International Affairs Building to protest what they saw as the school’s involvement in publicly shaming students whose photographs were displayed on a truck near campus. The truck, labeled a “doxxing truck,” showcased photos of students with the label “Columbia’s Leading Antisemites,” as reported by the New York Post.
The students pictured on the truck were part of groups that had signed a statement blaming Israel for a deadly attack. The incident sparked similar protests at Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania.
In response to the tensions between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian groups, Columbia University has formed an anti-Semitism task force and a doxxing resource group to protect pro-Palestinian students, according to the New York Post.
During her lecture, Clinton expressed support for Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas and refused to call for a cease-fire, as reported by The Jerusalem Post. She explained that a cease-fire would only give Hamas an opportunity to rebuild its armaments.
This is not the first time Clinton’s appearances have been disrupted. In a recent event, a heckler demanded she address allegations regarding her husband’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein, resulting in the heckler being removed from the venue, as reported by the New York Post.
