Adventure Series “007: Road To A Million” Takes Contestants on a James Bond-Inspired Journey
In the thrilling new TV adventure series “007: Road To A Million”, contestants embark on a global quest to win a grand prize of 1 million pounds ($1.2 million). From scaling mountains to facing dangerous animals, participants face James Bond-inspired challenges in their pursuit of victory.
The show features nine pairs of contestants, including nurses, retired police officers, siblings, friends, and a married couple. Their mission is to answer 10 questions set by “The Controller”, played by Scottish actor Brian Cox, which are hidden around the world.
Executive producer David Glover explained, “The idea is really to put ordinary people into a James Bond adventure and we didn’t quite know how that would work out. It’s thrilling because they’re not James Bond, but they have heart and they’re heroic in their own way.”
Scottish actor Brian Cox, known for his role in “Succession”, portrays “The Controller” who watches the contestants from afar as they face daring stunts to retrieve their questions. Each question is worth increasing amounts of money.
When Cox first heard about the show, he initially thought he might be asked to play a villain. However, he soon realized that he would be taking on the role of “The Controller” and said, “maybe if I do this, it’s probably the nearest I’ll ever get to being a Bond villain.”
The series kicks off with brothers James and Joey Bone, who are the first to embark on their adventure in the Scottish Highlands. They wade through a loch in search of their starter question, describing the experience as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Produced by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the masterminds behind the Bond films, “007: Road To A Million” will be available globally on Prime Video starting November 10.
As for the search for the next James Bond following Daniel Craig’s departure, Broccoli teased, “Not that at the moment. Watch this space.”
