Hamas Says Its Goal Is War, Not ‘Water and Electricity’ for Gaza

Hamas’s leaders have ‍openly confessed to the New York Times that their objective is to wage war on Israel,⁤ rather than focusing on⁢ improving ‌the lives of the people in ⁤Gaza with essential resources like water ‍and electricity.

“Our aim is ⁤not to govern Gaza and provide basic necessities such as water and electricity,” stated Khalil al-Hayya, a prominent member⁣ of Hamas’s leadership,⁢ in an interview with the Times published on Wednesday. “Hamas, the Qassam, and the resistance ‍have awakened the world from its slumber and emphasized the importance of addressing this issue.”

Al-Hayya further clarified that the recent terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas was not motivated by a desire to obtain supplies or improve the situation for Gazans. “Our intention was not to ameliorate the conditions in Gaza,” al-Hayya ⁢affirmed. “This battle aims to completely‌ overturn the ‌current situation.”

Taher El-Nounou, a media ⁤adviser for Hamas, expressed the group’s hope⁤ for a⁢ “permanent” war between Israel and ⁣Hamas, which commenced after the⁣ terrorist organization⁤ killed approximately 1,400 Israelis, mostly innocent civilians, on October 7. “I hope that the state of war with Israel will persist across all borders, and that the Arab world will stand by our side,”⁣ El-Nounou conveyed to the Times.

These statements from Hamas leaders provide‌ substantial evidence supporting the claims made by Israel⁣ and its supporters that Hamas prioritizes waging war against the ⁣Jewish state over the well-being of the ⁤people in Gaza.

Last month, a senior Hamas⁢ official admitted in an interview that despite constructing extensive tunnel networks beneath Gaza, Hamas has no interest in building shelters for Gazan ‌civilians. “It⁢ is the responsibility of the United Nations to protect them,” stated Mousa Abu Marzouk, a political leader of Hamas. “We have built ‍these tunnels because we have no other means⁣ of safeguarding ourselves from being ‍targeted and killed. The tunnels serve as our defense‍ against airstrikes. We fight from within the tunnels.”

Noa Cochva, the reigning Miss Israel, released a video in which she argued that Hamas⁣ bears sole responsibility for the dire situation faced by Gazan civilians. “There is undoubtedly a ⁣humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” Cochva emphasized. “But let’s think about it. Who is accountable for ‍the lack of food, medicine, and the constant ‍threat of rockets? There is only one culprit: Hamas, not Israel. It’s not about ‘Free Palestine.’ It’s about ‘Free Palestine from Hamas.’ Hamas is equivalent to ISIS.”

In what ways does Hamas’s confrontational approach hinder diplomatic ⁢efforts and peaceful resolution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

On Israel‍ was part of Hamas’s strategy to regain international attention and ‌support. He justified‍ the attack by claiming that it ‍was a response to Israeli aggression and the mistreatment of Palestinians. This⁢ admission exposes Hamas’s ⁢true intentions and highlights the organization’s‍ disregard for the well-being of the people⁢ it claims to represent.

While Gaza continues to‌ suffer from‍ a dire humanitarian crisis, ⁢with inadequate access to clean water, electricity shortages, and limited healthcare services, Hamas prioritizes militarization and perpetuating the conflict with Israel. Rather than using its resources and power to improve the lives of Palestinians, Hamas diverts them towards a destructive agenda.

This admission also undermines the ‍narrative often propagated by Hamas sympathizers that the organization is a legitimate⁣ resistance movement fighting for the rights of Palestinians. It reveals‌ that Hamas’s primary ‌goal is not the liberation of Palestine, but rather the destruction of Israel. ⁢This mindset only perpetuates the cycle of ‌violence and ‌hinders any chances of peaceful resolution in the⁤ region.

Furthermore, Hamas’s focus on war and resistance comes at the expense of diplomatic efforts and negotiation. While other Palestinian factions, such as Fatah, have engaged in discussions and peace talks with Israel, Hamas remains committed⁣ to a confrontational approach. This ⁤not only isolates and marginalizes Hamas on ⁢the international stage but‍ also denies the people of Gaza the opportunity for a better⁤ future.

It is disheartening to see Hamas openly admit its disregard for the well-being of Gazans. The people of Gaza deserve leadership‍ that⁤ prioritizes their needs, improves their⁢ living conditions, and pursues diplomatic solutions for lasting peace. By admitting their goal is war, ⁤Hamas has ⁣only further cemented its role as an obstacle to ‌progress‍ and prosperity in the region.

The international community must not turn a blind eye to Hamas’s true intentions. Countries and organizations that provide aid and support to the Palestinian⁢ territories should carefully consider where their resources are being directed and whether they are truly benefiting the people of Gaza. Holding Hamas accountable for its actions and pressuring it to change its destructive course is vital for the region’s stability and the well-being of all Palestinians.

Ultimately, the admission by Hamas’s leaders serves as a ‍wake-up call for the international community‍ to reevaluate its approach towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is time to recognize that Hamas’s goal⁣ is not‌ peace or prosperity for Gaza, but rather the perpetuation of violence and conflict. Only by addressing this⁣ reality can meaningful progress and a sustainable peace be achieved in the region.
