House GOP Releases Damning Report as Mayorkas Faces Impeachment: ‘Morally Unacceptable’

The⁢ House Homeland Security ⁢Committee has⁤ recently released a report that accuses Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of wasting taxpayer dollars to support illegal ⁣immigration. The‌ report, ‍obtained by the Daily Caller ⁤News Foundation, reveals that Mayorkas’ policies could potentially cost U.S.⁣ taxpayers a staggering $451 billion. The report cites‍ data from the Center for Immigration Studies and highlights major costs⁤ in various sectors ⁤such as health care, law enforcement,‌ education, welfare, housing, care‍ of unaccompanied children, transportation, and damage to private property.

Republican ⁤Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has⁤ taken action against Mayorkas by filing an impeachment resolution, citing “high crimes and misdemeanors” in connection with his handling of illegal immigration in the U.S.

One example of the⁤ excessive costs mentioned in ‍the report is the total ‍Medicaid expenses ⁤for “emergency‌ services for undocumented aliens,” which surpassed $7 billion ⁢in fiscal year 2021 and exceeded $5.4 billion ⁢in fiscal year 2022, according to data from the Centers for Medicare and ‌Medicaid Services.

“It ‍is morally unacceptable⁤ that American taxpayer dollars should be funneled ⁢to those who violate our laws and demand expansive, taxpayer-funded‌ benefits like education, health care, ‍housing, and ‍more. Many‌ of these individuals will likely represent a drain on American society for⁤ the remainder of their days in the United States, ‌constantly ‍absorbing more benefits from the state than they ever contribute—to say nothing ⁣of the fact that they⁣ have no lawful basis to remain in the country to begin with,”

The committee’s report concludes as part⁣ of its fourth phase of investigation into Mayorkas. A⁤ vote on Greene’s impeachment resolution is expected to‍ take place within two ‌legislative days of its introduction. Mayorkas is also scheduled ⁣to appear before the committee on Wednesday, alongside FBI Director Chris Wray ⁤and ‍National Counterterrorism Center ⁢Director ⁣Christine Abizaid.

“Mayorkas’⁢ policies have enabled this mass waste and abuse ‌of taxpayer resources. His policies and actions‌ have encouraged millions of people to cross our borders illegally. His department has ‌released millions of illegal aliens into the United States rather than detaining or ⁤removing them, as required by law. And there is no‌ end‍ in sight. As long as Mayorkas insists on these failed policies, Americans will⁣ be the ones on ⁣the hook for the bill incurred by the ‌millions of lawbreakers demanding‌ benefits from ‌Uncle Sam.”

DHS ⁣has not yet responded to requests for comment.

In response ⁤to the report, what is Secretary Mayorkas’ stance on ⁢immigration and the treatment of individuals seeking a better life in the United States

Ul‌ right to be in this country in the first place,” the report states.

The report also criticizes Mayorkas’ handling of the ⁣surge of unaccompanied children crossing the southern border.⁣ It highlights the significant⁢ cost of caring for ⁢these children, estimated‍ to be‌ around $20,000 per child per year. With a projected 148,000 unaccompanied minors expected to cross the border in 2022, the report estimates that the cost of their care could reach $2.96 billion.

“This is an unsustainable burden on American taxpayers. ⁤The Department of‌ Homeland Security should be focused on securing our borders and upholding the law, not incentivizing illegal⁤ immigration and burdening American ‌taxpayers with the costs,” said Rep. Greene.

The report also notes the impact of illegal immigration ⁢on law ‌enforcement resources, stating that local police departments are left to bear the brunt of the costs associated with apprehending and detaining illegal immigrants. The report contends that⁣ these costs are an unnecessary drain‌ on law‍ enforcement resources that could be better used to combat other crimes and protect American citizens.

In response to the release of the report, Mayorkas defended ⁤his actions and emphasized the importance ⁣of compassion and respect for the human rights of those coming to the United⁢ States seeking a better⁤ life.

“We are committed to enforcing our immigration⁣ laws and protecting our⁣ borders, but we will also treat all individuals with dignity and respect. We will not turn our backs on those in need,” said Mayorkas.

The House Homeland Security Committee’s report and Rep.⁣ Greene’s impeachment resolution come amidst ongoing debates over immigration policy in the United States. The issue of illegal immigration has been a source of contention between Republicans and Democrats, ‌with each side advocating for their respective solutions.

As the debate continues,‌ the release of‌ this damning report and ‍the ⁤threat of ‍impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas ⁣adds fuel to the fire, intensifying‌ the discourse and raising questions about the effectiveness and morality of⁢ current immigration policies.

The‍ report⁢ not only‍ highlights ⁢the potential financial burden on American ⁤taxpayers but also‌ raises ‌concerns about the rule of law and the impact on law enforcement resources. It underscores the need for comprehensive immigration reform that addresses these issues while balancing the compassion and respect for human rights that are fundamental to our democratic values.

As the House GOP seeks to hold Mayorkas accountable and push for changes in ⁤immigration policy, the future ⁢of immigration ⁣reform ‌in the United States remains uncertain. The release of this damning report may serve as a catalyst for further ⁢discussions and ⁢actions in the ongoing effort to address the challenges posed by illegal immigration and ensure a fair and just system‌ for all.
