Someone Please Rescue Miss USA From Her Lame Globalist Costume

Helmed‍ by a ​man who embraces the art⁣ of transformation, the Miss Universe franchise‍ is now facing financial troubles, and honestly, I think it’s well-deserved. However, there’s one aspect of ​the pageant that I can’t help but enjoy: the extravagant display of national costumes.

Each contestant selects a costume that represents their country’s heritage, culture, and pride. These outfits are always‌ over-the-top, often creative, and sometimes even a ‌little scary.

Contestants often wear ⁢costumes that feature their country’s flag or ⁢pay homage to their mythology, history,‌ local flora, ​or architecture. However, this year, two countries took a different approach and incorporated the flags of other nations ‍into their costumes.

Miss​ USA’s costume showcased miniatures of iconic landmarks like the Statue of⁢ Liberty and‌ the Washington Monument, but alongside ‌the Stars and Stripes, there were about 10 other flags. Miss Canada’s costume went even further, with nearly two dozen flags from other countries⁢ adorning⁣ her outfit, along with the message “inclusivity makes​ dreams come true” on her back. While the Canadian costume included the flags of all participating countries, no explanation was given for the ​selection​ of flags on Miss USA’s back, which ranged from the ⁣Chinese flag to the flag of ‍El Salvador.

Look, I understand the challenges faced by Canada and Miss USA. It’s not easy to encapsulate the vast diversity ⁣and ⁣cultural influence of a nation in⁣ a single costume. However, considering the wealth of ‌inspiration available, should our⁤ “national costume” really‍ be celebrating the ‍origins of our ⁢ competitors?

Every year, beautiful women from ‌around the world create elaborate costumes that showcase their national ​pride, and they receive applause for it. But for countries like the United States and other Western nations, where⁢ cultural Marxists view national pride as taboo, the ‍costumes sometimes reflect a sense of self-consciousness.⁣ (Miss USA’s introduction this year was all about immigration.) ‌

If ⁣Western cultural contributions such as classical music, the Renaissance, or liberal thought are ⁤constantly‌ associated with negative connotations like⁢ colonialism and “Eurocentrism” — even Miss Greece’s‌ costume called for the return ⁣of ancient artifacts ‍from other countries’ museums — it’s no ‌wonder that contestants face an identity crisis when trying to create costumes that celebrate their ⁣own heritage. ⁤As a result, the rich histories of countries like Germany and the​ Netherlands often ⁣get reduced to costumes depicting a pink princess Rapunzel and a stroopwafel, while Miss USA parades around with⁣ billboards on⁣ her back advertising​ competitor countries.

I must admit, I ⁤loved Miss ‍USA’s viral costume from last year, which depicted planting an enormous American flag on the moon. It was outrageous, but that’s the essence of the competition. Americans should be proud of being the greatest country in the world, and winning the space race is a shining example of our ⁢success.

In 2002,⁣ right after 9/11, Miss USA proudly wore an FDNY uniform. In other years, she has portrayed a cowgirl, a bejeweled American Indian, Scarlett O’Hara, Wonder Woman, and even Elvis. These costumes may be kitschy, but at least they unapologetically honor figures from our own American pantheon.

While we may be a melting pot, we have an abundance of cultural heritage‌ to draw from. We have Norman Rockwell paintings, the majestic Rocky Mountains, the grandeur of our capital city’s marble architecture, the vibrant autumn colors of⁢ our Eastern foothills, and our music. We have heroes like George Washington, Daniel Boone, Sacagawea, and Rosie the Riveter. We have inventions from the automobile to the airplane, our distinct American style from⁤ Levi Strauss to Ralph Lauren, literary ⁣greats from Jay Gatsby to Huck Finn, the​ golden age of Hollywood, the Mayflower, redwood trees, bald⁢ eagles, the Declaration of⁢ Independence, our charming coastal fishing towns,‍ baseball, the Chrysler ⁣Building, the U.S.S. Constitution, and Betsy Ross, just to name ‍a few.

Our president is already doing a poor job representing American pride on the world stage. Miss ⁣USA‌ doesn’t need to follow his “America Last” ‌mentality. ⁢
