Disneyland visitors who had parked their cars in the garage were temporarily relocated to the Mickey and Friends parking lot until the investigation was completed and the garage could be reopened.
This is not the first time such a tragedy has occurred at Disneyland. In fact, since 2010, there have been a total of six suicides at the theme park, with three of them happening since December 2022. Two of the incidents took place at the Mickey and Friends parking garage.
The rise in suicide rates is a concerning trend, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Between 2000 and 2021, suicide rates increased by 36 percent, resulting in 48,183 deaths in 2021 alone. The CDC also revealed that millions of Americans have contemplated suicide, with a significant number making plans or attempting to take their own lives.
