Ramaswamy stands by his push to prioritize northern border threats after suspected terror attack

Republican Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy ‌Raises Concerns About U.S.-Canada⁣ Border ⁣Security

Following a suspected⁤ terror‌ attack at a border ⁢checkpoint in Niagara Falls,⁣ New York,‍ Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has ⁣once again emphasized the need for enhanced security at the‌ U.S.-Canada border. In an interview on Fox ‍News’s America Reports, Ramaswamy referred to the northern border ⁣as the “new‌ frontier of the border crisis.”

“The ‌Northern Border‍ Crisis: A Mounting Threat”

“I have been sounding⁤ the alarm‍ bell about the northern border for a ⁢long time. I⁢ visited the northern border earlier — I’m the⁣ only presidential candidate to‌ do it. That’s where ‍the new frontier of the ‌border ‍crisis ⁣is actually going. We have ‌a bad crisis at the northern border,” Ramaswamy expressed.

“More ‌fentanyl was captured at the northern⁤ border last year⁣ than could kill 3 million Americans. And, in fact, in New Hampshire last fall, there was a Brazilian ex-military man who was captured and apprehended who had killed 11 people. So, this is a‍ mounting crisis. We are ignoring⁢ it. The crisis at the southern border‌ needs to‌ be dealt with,‌ but it can’t cause complacency to the northern border either. I think it’s sad‌ what’s happening,” he added.

When questioned about reports suggesting that⁤ the explosion originated from the U.S. side⁢ of the‍ border checkpoint, ‍Ramaswamy acknowledged ⁣that the situation is ‌still unfolding ⁢but stressed the importance of‍ increasing ‍security measures at the northern border checkpoints.

“Border Security: A Comprehensive Approach”

“These‌ are facts that are evolving in real-time. But I want‍ to take the lessons ‍we can learn early on. ‌The security at that northern ‌border — ‌I⁤ visited those CBP ⁢stations —⁢ it’s not nearly as serious‌ as the southern border, and I think we need to take that more seriously. Border security goes for all security ⁤near⁢ the border, not just ‌the other side but on ⁤ours as well,” Ramaswamy ‌emphasized.

“And we have⁢ a⁢ situation in the country; we ‌have a number of people, tens of thousands, who have entered the country with bad intentions ⁣and⁣ not just coming from⁣ the southern border, they are coming from the⁢ northern border, too. Seventy thousand ⁤special interest ⁤aliens last year alone,” he added.

Ramaswamy concluded by‍ highlighting the need to prioritize the protection of the homeland, emphasizing that⁤ it has ⁣not been a priority for either political party for a long ⁣time.

“Protecting‍ Our Homeland: A Long Overdue Priority”

“So, I do think protecting‍ our homeland has‍ not ⁢been a priority for a long time, ⁤frankly in either political⁤ party, that ‌needs to change now. I hope that we will get more facts as⁢ the situation evolves, ⁢but this is unfortunately ⁢another startling reminder ‌of ⁢that⁢ reality,” Ramaswamy⁣ continued.

The suspected‍ terrorist attack occurred on the busiest travel day of the⁢ year, just before the Thanksgiving⁣ holiday, at the ‌Rainbow ⁤Bridge⁣ connecting the U.S. and Canada at Niagara Falls.

What⁣ are the implications of inadequate security measures at the U.S.-Canada border for national security

Eglect of ⁣the northern border,” Ramaswamy warned.

The growing concern over border security is not unwarranted. In recent years, there has been an alarming increase in drug trafficking and⁢ illegal crossings at the U.S.-Canada border. The smuggling of fentanyl, a highly potent synthetic opioid responsible ⁣for ‌a significant number of overdose deaths in the United ⁢States, has ‌become a major issue. Last year alone, more⁣ fentanyl was seized at⁢ the northern⁤ border than could potentially kill millions of Americans. This ⁣highlights the⁢ urgent need ⁢for stronger security measures to prevent the entry of such dangerous substances into our⁣ country.

In addition to the drug crisis, there have also been cases of violent criminals attempting to enter the⁣ United States through the northern border. Ramaswamy mentioned the apprehension of a Brazilian ex-military man in New Hampshire, who had already ⁢taken the ⁢lives of 11 individuals. These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the potential threats that exist and the need to be vigilant in protecting our ⁣borders.

Ramaswamy acknowledged that‍ the crisis at the southern border demands attention and action. However, he emphasized that‌ this should not ‍overshadow the growing challenges at the northern border. ‍The political discourse and⁣ media attention around border security have primarily focused on the southern border, creating a sense of complacency regarding the threats posed⁤ by the northern border. It is crucial to address both fronts of the border ‌crisis and⁢ allocate resources accordingly ⁢to ⁣ensure the safety and security of the American people.

The issue of border security also extends beyond criminal activities. It has implications‍ for national security as well. The United States and Canada share a long and relatively peaceful‌ border, but this ‌should not lead us to underestimate the‌ potential risks. In an increasingly interconnected world, it is⁤ essential to maintain robust security measures to effectively identify and mitigate any ⁢potential threats ⁣to our national security.

The ⁣concerns raised by Ramaswamy regarding the U.S.-Canada border should not be dismissed. As a Republican ‌presidential candidate, he brings attention to ‍an often overlooked aspect of border security that warrants serious consideration. The increase in drug smuggling and the presence ‌of violent individuals attempting to enter ⁣the United States through the northern border are alarming trends that demand a proactive approach.

Enhancing security at the U.S.-Canada border should be a priority ‌for policymakers and law ⁣enforcement agencies. This includes deploying additional personnel, utilizing advanced surveillance technologies, and strengthening collaboration between the United States ⁢and ⁤Canada in intelligence sharing and joint operations. By addressing the challenges⁢ at the northern border, we can further safeguard our nation and ensure the ⁣safety of our citizens.

Ramaswamy’s advocacy for enhanced security at the U.S.-Canada border serves as a reminder that border crises are not isolated to a single region. It is imperative to approach⁢ border security comprehensively and remain vigilant towards⁤ all potential threats. The safety and well-being of the ⁣American people should‌ always be a top priority, and a secure U.S.-Canada ⁣border is an essential component of achieving that objective.
