“It was gratuitous thuggery,” said Chief Superintendent of Police Patrick McMenamin, according to Fox News. “Some of my colleagues were also attacked and assaulted. Thankfully there were no serious reports of injury.”

Ireland’s national police commissioner, Drew Harris, blamed a “complete lunatic faction driven by far-right ideology” for the riots, as reported by The Irish News.
