It’s no secret that Americans are facing financial difficulties under the current economic policies of the Biden administration. This was evident during the recent Black Friday shopping experience, where hesitant shoppers were reluctant to participate in the usual frenzy of post-Thanksgiving sales.
Macy’s CEO Jeff Gennette acknowledged the pressure on consumers, stating, “The customer is under pressure. You see it with what is going on in luxury. That is a recent development.”
However, it seems that consumers may have been wise to be cautious, as a viral TikTok video suggested that retail giant Target was offering deceptive ”savings” during Black Friday.
In the video, which garnered over 38 million views, the TikTok user explored a Target store and discovered that the “Black Friday” price labels were hiding generic “Sale” tags with the same prices. This led many social media users to accuse Target of misleading customers with supposed special price cuts.

The video quickly gained traction on social media and received coverage from outlets like TMZ. Target eventually responded, explaining that the items featured in the video were part of their early Black Friday sales and were still being offered at the same discounted prices during Black Friday.
While Target defended their pricing strategy, the incident raised questions about the distinction between “Black Friday” sales and ”early Black Friday” sales. The company emphasized their commitment to offering flexibility and great discounts throughout the holiday season, as well as their Price Match Guarantee.
This viral video is just the latest in a series of PR challenges for Target. Earlier this year, the company faced backlash for selling LGBT “pride” merchandise designed by someone associated with Satanism. Additionally, The Western Journal reported on a mother who received a disturbing “extreme horror” novel instead of the book she ordered from Target.
