The Daily Show’ Guest Host Urges Biden to Not Run in 2024
The Daily Show Guest Host Urges President Biden Not to Run for Second Term
In a passionate plea, Charlamagne Tha God, the guest host of “The Daily Show,” implored President Joe Biden to refrain from running for a second term, suggesting that it would be the “ultimate Christmas gift” to America.
During his opening monologue on Wednesday, Charlamagne, also known as Lenard McKelvey, urged the president to step aside in the 2024 race, allowing the party to defeat the likely Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump.
“This is Biden’s ego talking, okay,” Charlamagne addressed the audience. “If you think there are other people who can beat him [Trump], step aside. I know you think you’ve got this in the bag… but the polls say otherwise.”
Charlamagne continued, “I want Biden stepping in to beat Trump the way I want him to defend me at a bar fight. I appreciate you caring, but I don’t like our chances.”
“The point is we don’t need Biden to beat Donald Trump just like we didn’t need RBG to stay on the court. Maybe if RBG had retired during the Obama years, we’d still have Roe v. Wade… And now look, both of them are gone.”
The radio host argued that Biden is “not getting any younger” or “more popular,” and emphasized that the president will not have a new running mate, such as Vice President Kamala Harris.

“So please, Mr. President, give America the ultimate Christmas gift and step aside,” Charlamagne concluded, prompting loud cheers and applause from the audience.
In September, the radio personality criticized Biden for his inauthentic behavior at a Black Caucus event, dubbing him the “Donkey of The Day.”
While many criticized Biden for referring to LL Cool J as a “boy,” Charlamagne found it “egregious” that the president also got the rapper’s name wrong, calling him “LL J Cool J.”
“LL Cool J has been White-famous for at least 35 years,” Charlamagne expressed. “There’s not too many more recognizable celebrities on the planet. It’s not like Joe Biden was speaking on somebody relatively new, someone he wasn’t familiar with in any way, shape, or form. It’s LL Cool J.”
He added, “This is a prime example of it doesn’t matter how many black people you are around, doesn’t matter how many black people you have in your administration… if it’s not authentic to him, then it won’t come off as authentic to anyone. Y’all keep trying to make this 197-year-old man sound cool simply because he’s talking to black people, and there’s nothing more uncool than someone trying too hard to be cool.”

What are the concerns about President Biden’s age and declining popularity in relation to the future of the Democratic Party?
Zed that it is time for the president to pass the torch to the younger generation of Democratic leaders.
“Let’s be honest, Biden is not a young man. He’s 81 years old, and it’s clear that age is taking a toll on him,” Charlamagne expressed. “We need someone with more energy, more charisma, someone who can excite and unite the party.”
Charlamagne’s plea to President Biden comes at a critical juncture for the Democratic Party. With the 2022 midterm elections looming and the 2024 presidential election not far behind, strategizing the party’s future leadership and direction is of paramount importance.
Despite his appeal, Charlamagne acknowledged that convincing Biden to forgo a second term would not be an easy task. He acknowledged that politicians often have a hard time letting go of power and the allure of seeking re-election.
“I understand that the presidency is an incredibly powerful position, and it’s difficult to walk away from that,” Charlamagne said. “But sometimes, doing what’s best for the country means making personal sacrifices.”
Charlamagne also addressed the concerns that a potential Republican candidate, particularly former President Donald Trump, would pose a formidable challenge in the 2024 race. However, he asserted that the Democratic Party has capable candidates who can take on that challenge and continue the party’s progressive agenda.
“We have talented individuals within our party who can go toe-to-toe with Trump and his supporters,” Charlamagne stated. “We need fresh voices, new ideas, and a leader who can inspire and mobilize voters.”
Charlamagne’s passionate plea to President Biden not to run for a second term reflects a growing sentiment within the Democratic Party. Many party members and progressive activists believe that it is time for a new generation of leaders to step forward and take the reins.
The concerns about Biden’s age and declining popularity are legitimate. As the leader of a nation facing numerous challenges, it is crucial for the president to be able to energize and unite the American people. While Biden has made significant progress in certain areas, there is a sense that the country needs a leader who can bring a fresh perspective and renewed enthusiasm.
Ultimately, the decision of whether or not President Biden chooses to run for a second term rests solely with him. However, it is essential to have open and honest discussions about the future of the Democratic Party and the need for new leadership. Charlamagne Tha God’s plea serves as a reminder that change is necessary, and that sometimes, stepping aside can be the ultimate gift to the country.
