Maryland Representative Jamie Raskin warned the nation that former President Donald Trump might try to “overturn” the election again if he loses in the 2024 campaign.
On Sunday morning, Raskin (D-Md.) issued a warning, saying that if Trump loses the 2024 election, he would attempt to “overturn” the results “once more.”
The Maryland congressman spoke before the highest court in the United States and intervened to hear cases involving recent state decisions in Maine and Colorado. The decisions involved removing Trump from the general election primary under the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment insurrection clause.
During the “State of the Union” show on CNN, Raskin refrained from stating whether Maine’s choice to prohibit Trump from the 2024 election under the 14th Amendment will turn him into a “martyr.”
After Colorado, Maine became the second state last week to remove the former president from the ballot, arguing that Trump is “disqualified” due to the 14th Amendment.
“It may or may not. The question is, what does the Constitution say? Donald Trump can strike the pose of the martyr in any given context,” Raskin asserted. “If he’s allowed to stay on the ballot, despite his clear incitement of an insurrection and attempt to overturn the results in the 2020 election, and he loses to Joe Biden… he will feel himself a martyr there, and he will try to overturn the election result again.”
“So I don’t think we can run scared from Donald Trump. We have got to enforce our Constitution. And that certainly was the design of the framers, and that’s what they would have us do,” he added.
Regarding Trump’s actions prior to and on January 6th, 2021, Raskin argued that the former president has “disqualified himself from the race under the 14th Amendment” and that the Supreme Court can make the final decisions.
Trump has already vowed to appeal both the Colorado and Maine rulings.
Additionally, Raskin stated that Trump’s case may be challenging for the Supreme Court to rule on.
“I mean, under constitutional federalism, every state is ultimately going to control its own ballot access and access to candidates for the ballot,” Raskin declared. “And that is obviously difficult when we’re talking about electing the president, who is the one official we have got in America who is supposed to represent the entire country, represent everybody.”
“And so I think that the urgency is for the Supreme Court to act. But I think it’s going to be tough for some of them, if they want to keep Trump on the ballot, if they’re falling for the argument that this is undemocratic,” he added.

Title: Maryland Representative Jamie Raskin Warns of Potential Election Overturn by Donald Trump in 2024
Introduction
Maryland Representative Jamie Raskin has raised concerns about the possibility of former President Donald Trump attempting to “overturn” the election results again if he loses in the 2024 campaign. Raskin, who has been actively involved in legal cases related to Trump’s candidacy, made these remarks during a recent interview.
Raskin’s Warning
During a Sunday morning interview, Representative Raskin (D-Md.) issued a warning, highlighting the potential actions Trump might take if he is unsuccessful in the 2024 election. Raskin expressed his belief that Trump would attempt to overturn the election results “once more” if given the opportunity.
Involvement in State Decisions
Raskin has been actively involved in court cases relating to recent state decisions that concern Trump’s eligibility for future elections. Two states, Maine and Colorado, have decided to remove Trump from their respective ballots, citing the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution’s insurrection clause.
Raskin refrained from commenting on whether Maine’s decision to prohibit Trump’s participation in the 2024 election would turn him into a “martyr.” His focus remained on upholding constitutional principles and enforcing the Supreme Court’s final decisions.
Challenging Decisions
Raskin acknowledged that Trump’s appeal against the rulings in Colorado and Maine may pose a challenge for the Supreme Court. He emphasized the importance of state control over ballot access and candidates, while recognizing that the president’s role is to represent the entire nation.
Supreme Court’s Urgency to Act
According to Raskin, the urgency lies with the Supreme Court to address these issues promptly. However, he speculated that some justices may face difficulty if they want to keep Trump on the ballot, particularly if they perceive the removal as undemocratic.
Conclusion
Representative Jamie Raskin’s warning regarding the potential for Donald Trump to seek to “overturn” election results in 2024 raises concerns about democratic processes and the role of the Supreme Court. Raskin’s involvement in state decisions pertaining to Trump’s eligibility showcases his commitment to upholding constitutional principles. As the legal battles continue, the nation awaits the Supreme Court’s decisions and their implications for future elections.
