Michael Cohen, Trump’s ex-attorney, has lost an appeal to revive his claim that former President Donald Trump retaliated against him for promoting⁤ his ⁤tell-all book that criticized the former president.

On ‌Tuesday, a federal ‍appeals ‌court ruled⁢ that Cohen’s case was null and void. He was attempting⁤ to revive the allegation that the 45th president “used his presidential powers to jail him” ‌for promoting his book.

In a separate case, Cohen entered a guilty ‍plea ‌in 2018 to charges of⁣ tax⁢ evasion, lying to Congress, and⁢ violating campaign finance ⁤laws.

He first began ‍writing the⁣ memoir about his interactions with the ⁣former president while‍ he was in prison. However, in May 2020, he was released amidst⁤ the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the⁣ prisoner population.

A disagreement over whether ‍he could talk ⁣to‌ the media about his impending book⁣ while under home confinement ⁤led to his eventual return to prison, according to a lawsuit filed by the ⁤American Civil ⁣Liberties Union ‍(ACLU).

Cohen complained that ‌while he was spending nearly the⁣ entire day in a small ⁢cell at the federal prison, where ⁢temperatures “were above 100 degrees,” he experienced physical ailments such as headaches, shortness of breath,⁣ and anxiety.

Later, in July 2020, a ⁣federal judge ruled that Cohen could ⁤be⁢ put on house arrest instead.

When Cohen’s book “Disloyal: A Memoir” was first published, it ⁣peaked at number one on the Amazon best-seller list.

Cohen ‍attempted to bring back the‍ retaliation ⁤allegation against Trump, but the complaint ⁢was once ⁤more dismissed by U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman, an attorney Trump had previously appointed.

Liman reiterated in the most‌ recent dismissal that⁢ Cohen lacked a good basis to allege that a‍ federal officer had violated the Constitution on behalf of federal⁢ authority.

Trump attorney Aina Habba celebrated the‍ court’s ⁢decision.

“We ‍are very pleased with today’s ruling. Mr. Cohen’s lawsuit ‍was doomed from its inception. We will continue⁤ to fight against any frivolous suit aimed at our client,” Habba said.

What evidence does Cohen’s lawyer believe shows that President Trump retaliated against Mr. Cohen for exercising his First Amendment rights?

To ‍vigorously defend against any baseless claims made against President Trump,” Habba said.

Cohen’s lawyer, Rachel Brass, expressed disappointment at the court’s ruling. “We believe that the evidence clearly shows that President Trump retaliated against Mr. Cohen for exercising his First Amendment⁤ rights. We will explore all possible avenues to seek justice for Mr. Cohen,” Brass stated.

This latest decision⁣ comes as a blow to Cohen, who had hoped to use ⁢the courts to hold Trump accountable for his alleged actions. However, with multiple dismissals of⁤ his retaliation claims, it seems unlikely that Cohen will be successful ⁤in his pursuit.

Despite his legal setbacks, Cohen’s book continues to be ⁤a popular read among those ⁣interested in the inner workings of the Trump administration. It offers a glimpse into the personal ⁤and professional relationship between Cohen and ‍the former president, shedding light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the Trump campaign and presidency.

Since his release from prison, Cohen has been vocal in his criticism of Trump, often ⁣sharing his insights and experiences through media interviews ‌and ⁣public statements. ⁣While his credibility may be debated, his account provides an additional perspective on a‌ tumultuous period in ⁣American politics.

As for Trump, he has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has called Cohen a liar.⁢ The legal battles between the two individuals have been ongoing for years, with‌ each side presenting their own version of events.

With Cohen’s latest appeal dismissed, it remains to be seen whether he will continue to pursue legal action against Trump. As the dust settles on this particular case, the focus may shift to other matters‌ concerning the former‍ president.

Regardless‌ of the outcome, the Cohen-Trump saga has ‌captured the attention of‌ the‌ public ⁤and serves as‍ a reminder of the complexities and controversies that have defined the Trump era.

Only time will tell what further developments may arise in this ongoing legal battle. In the meantime, both Cohen⁣ and Trump will have to face the consequences of their actions and live ⁣with the repercussions of their⁣ past decisions.

Whether justice will ultimately be served,⁤ or whether history will deliver its verdict, remains to be seen.
