Biden’s Immigration Policy: A Path to Self-Destruction, Says Shapiro
President Biden’s Approach to Immigration is Paving the Way for Trump’s Return, Says Ben Shapiro
In the midst of record-high illegal immigration, Ben Shapiro, Daily Wire Editor Emeritus, explains how President Joe Biden’s failure to address the problem and instead blaming Republicans is setting the stage for former President Donald Trump’s comeback.
According to POLITICO, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates criticized the GOP’s stance on immigration, stating, “Actions speak louder than words. House Republicans’ anti-border security record is defined by attempting to cut Customs and Border Protection personnel, opposing President Biden’s record-breaking border security funding, and refusing to take up the President’s supplemental funding request.”
Shapiro compares the Democrats’ blame game to an internet meme where a character shoots another and then asks, ”Who could have done this?” He remarks, “That is the Democratic Party when it comes to illegal immigration.”
Shapiro highlights Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ statement about a backlog of three million cases and adds, “It got much worse when the U.S. citizenship and immigration system within the Department of Homeland Security was financially gutted during the prior administration.”
Shapiro points out that Biden’s focus is on increasing processing power rather than cutting off the flow of illegal immigration. He emphasizes, “If you want illegal immigration to stop, you need to cut off the flow. But that’s exactly what the Biden administration is unwilling to do.”
Shapiro notes that illegal immigration has significantly increased under Biden, and Mayorkas attributes it to climate change and poverty. Shapiro questions this reasoning, stating, “Weird, since climate change, according to the Left, has been taking place for decades. And poverty has been endemic to this region for decades.”
Shapiro declares, “Leaving the border wide open is totally insane.” He argues that even labor-first Democrats who were once against illegal immigration have been replaced by college-educated white liberals who view open borders as a moral obligation.

Shapiro then discusses the Secure the Border Act of 2023, which the House passed in May. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer dismissed it as the only solution, to which Shapiro responds:
The Secure the Border Act: A Conservative Solution
The bill proposes reestablishing Trump-era border policies, including restarting construction on the border wall. It aims to prevent all unlawful entry into the United States, increase the number of Border Patrol agents, and incorporate physical barriers and technologies for border control. It also prohibits using federal resources to transport non-citizens into the country’s interior and requires a strategic plan based on input from border community stakeholders.
Shapiro highlights that the bill’s provisions contradict the notion that Republicans oppose increasing Border Patrol agents. They simply prioritize catching illegal border crossers over processing immigration forms.
The bill also raises screening standards for asylum seekers and allows for the detention of non-citizen families, aiming to prevent separations at the border.
Shapiro asserts that the Secure the Border Act is reasonable and challenges Biden’s opposition to it. He concludes, “Trump will win on this issue. This issue matters to Americans. And Joe Biden is sleepwalking directly into his own defeat.”
How does Shapiro argue that the Democratic Party’s failure to address immigration concerns led to Trump’s rise to power
Ation are now hesitant to speak out against it, fearing backlash from the party. He explains, “The Democratic Party has spent years signalling that immigration laws don’t really matter, and now they have a border crisis on their hands that they refuse to acknowledge.”
Shapiro contends that Biden’s approach to immigration, or lack thereof, is creating a political opportunity for former President Donald Trump. He states, “Trump rose to power largely because the Democratic Party refused to properly address immigration concerns. Now, Biden’s
