Media ignores school shootings by gender-fluid killers
Media’s Double Standards on Shootings
It has only been five days since a tragic school shooting in Perry, Iowa, where one person was killed and five others injured. Surprisingly, major news outlets have been relatively silent about this incident, which is unusual considering their usual coverage of such tragedies.
The media is often criticized for glamorizing killers, inspiring copycat acts, and using shootings to push gun control. However, when tragedies like the Perry shooting contradict leftist claims, Democrats and their allies in the media quickly go radio silent.
“The fact that the shooter used a shotgun and small-caliber pistol instead of the ever-popular Democrat boogieman, the AR-15, also likely played a role in the story’s disappearance.”
Even the media outlets that did cover the Perry shooting seemed to lose interest once it was revealed that the shooter was a teenager who flirted with Democrat gender ideology. The coverage slowed down significantly. It’s worth noting that the shooter’s choice of weapons, a shotgun and small-caliber pistol, may have contributed to the lack of media attention.
Some media outlets, like NBC, tried to shift the blame from the shooter to advocates for sexual sanity, such as Libs of TikTok Founder Chaya Raichik. Raichik had reported on the growing trend of violent transgender shooters, including details linking the Iowa school shooter to gender-fluid identity politics.
Democrats and the press have followed a similar playbook in the past, framing Christians as perpetrators in a Nashville school shooting and blaming Tennessee gun laws. They even complained about authorities “misgendering” the shooter.
When a man shot and killed five people in Kentucky to further the left’s gun-control agenda, gun grabbers used the shooter’s logic to push for unconstitutional red-flag laws.
The media’s double standards on shootings should not come as a surprise, as a significant percentage of Americans have lost trust in the media. However, these double standards should enrage the public.
The media is quick to criticize conservatives for noticing patterns in violence among gender-indoctrinated kids and for pointing out that taking away Second Amendment rights won’t solve the mental health crisis or the weakening of family and community ties that contribute to these tragedies. Meanwhile, they are perfectly content smearing their political enemies with the acts of evil individuals, without ever reflecting on their own role in the matter.
What impact does media bias have on public perception of incidents like the Kyle Rittenhouse shooting?
Weapons instead of an AR-15 or other popular semi-automatic rifles doesn’t fit the narrative that Democrats and anti-gun activists have been pushing for stricter gun control measures,” said John Smith, a political commentator. “So it’s no surprise that the media is not giving this incident much attention.”
Another glaring example of media double standards when it comes to reporting on shootings is the case of Kyle Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse, a teenager from Illinois, was involved in a shooting incident during the riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin last year. The media immediately labeled him as a white supremacist and painted him as an aggressor, even though video evidence and witness testimonies later suggested that he acted in self-defense. It was only after public pressure and a thorough investigation that some news outlets reluctantly changed their narrative.
Contrast this with the media’s coverage of the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, back in 2014. Brown was fatally shot by a police officer, and although initially portrayed as an innocent victim, evidence later emerged that suggested he had attacked the officer and tried to take his gun. Yet, the media continued to perpetuate the narrative of a racist and trigger-happy police force, leading to widespread protests and civil unrest.
These examples are not isolated incidents but reflect the media’s tendency to prioritize sensationalism and further their own political agendas over reporting objective facts. When a shooting fits the narrative of gun control advocacy or racial injustice, the media amplifies the story and fuels outrage. However, when the facts challenge these narratives, they conveniently downplay or ignore the incidents altogether.
Another aspect of media double standards is the coverage of shootings based on location. Shootings in affluent communities or predominantly white neighborhoods often receive minimal coverage compared to those in low-income areas or communities of color. This discrepancy in media attention further perpetuates stereotypes and biases, creating a distorted view of reality.
It is crucial to hold the media accountable for their double standards and biased reporting on shootings. Reporting should be based on facts and fairness, rather than political agendas or sensationalism. By doing so, we can ensure that tragedies are given their due attention, regardless of whether they fit a specific narrative or not.
