Ohio parents arrested after child overdoses on fentanyl on birthday
Parents Arrested in Ohio After Child’s Fentanyl Overdose on 4th Birthday
Authorities in Ohio have taken swift action against parents involved in a harrowing incident that occurred on a young boy’s 4th birthday.
Suspects Alexis Scarborough, 34, and Denard Bishop, 39, were apprehended and recently appeared in court following a disturbing event on November 25th. It was during this time that their son experienced a life-threatening fentanyl overdose.
When law enforcement arrived at Bishop’s residence, they found the child in distress, struggling to breathe due to agonal breathing, a condition caused by oxygen deprivation.
The child was immediately rushed to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where he received urgent treatment for the fentanyl overdose.
Investigations revealed that Scarborough was present during the incident, as she had been visiting the child. Bishop, on the other hand, was allegedly inside the residence at the same time.
Scarborough appeared in court on Wednesday, facing charges of endangering children. Despite pleading not guilty, her lawyer filed a motion requesting her release on her own recognizance, allowing her to continue working at a local hotel.
However, records from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office indicate that Scarborough remains in custody, with a bond set at $10,000.
Bishop made his court appearance on Friday and is now facing charges of neglect and at least one count of child endangerment. A judge has set his bond at $7,500.
It is crucial to address such alarming incidents promptly and ensure the safety and well-being of children. The authorities are taking this matter seriously, and further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
