“The Executive Branch​ of the United ⁤States has a constitutional‍ duty to enforce federal laws protecting States,⁣ including immigration ​laws on the books right ⁢now. ‍President Biden has refused⁢ to enforce those laws and has even violated them,” Abbott wrote.

“I have ⁣already ‌declared an invasion to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority ⁣to defend and protect itself. That authority ‍is the supreme law of the ‍land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary,” the letter continued.

A coalition‌ of⁣ 25 Republican governors, including Gov. ‍Mike DeWine (R-OH), issued a joint statement in support of Texas’s right to self-defense.

Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) also introduced a similar bill called the Restricting Administration Zealots from Obliging Raiders, or RAZOR, Act, which aims to⁤ prevent federal ⁢authorities from ‌cutting through protective fencing ⁤in Texas and other⁤ states.
