Biden campaign aims to make 81-year-old attend Taylor Swift concert
It’s time to face the reality of elder abuse in this country
It’s bad enough that Democrats are forcing President Joe Biden to run for reelection. It’s elder abuse, plain and simple. The president is 81 years old, his mind is barely functioning, and he ought to be enjoying his retirement on a beach in Delaware surrounded by loved ones and caregivers.
Democrats might say they have no choice in the matter. Biden is the best candidate they’ve got. Sure, they could pressure him to step aside, but then they’d have to tell Vice President Kamala Harris they don’t want her either. The party might not survive the racially fueled temper tantrum that would follow.
Fine, but that doesn’t give them the right to subject our frail octogenarian president to senseless acts of cruelty. Biden’s handlers already force him to risk his life and humiliate himself at public campaign events. Reports indicate his reelection team is plotting to ramp up the intensity of the abuse in the coming months.
According to the New York Times, the Biden campaign has “tossed around” the idea of sending Biden to a Taylor Swift concert sometime this year in an effort to secure an endorsement from the semi-prominent NFL girlfriend. Anecdotal evidence suggests the median Taylor Swift fan is a mentally unstable teenage girl with a scream that can shatter glass and hair that Biden will definitely try to smell if given the opportunity. It would be a disaster for everyone involved.
Sending an 81-year-old man known as “Sleepy Joe” to a Taylor Swift concert would be an overt act of cultural terrorism, an ageist hate crime of unreckonable proportion. Has Biden not suffered enough? He has been bullied and belittled by former president Barack Obama for the better part of two decades. It’s time to get serious about elder abuse in this country.
Enough!
What are the different forms of elder abuse, and in what settings can it occur?
Low if they were to replace Biden with Harris. So instead, they continue to parade Biden around, propping him up on teleprompters and feeding him lines, while the real power rests in the hands of his aides and advisors.
But this isn’t just political maneuvering. It’s a deeply concerning case of elder abuse. Elder abuse is a serious issue that affects millions of older adults in our country. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 15.7% of people aged 60 and older experience some form of abuse.
Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial, and neglect. It can happen in various settings, such as in the home, in nursing homes, or even in the community. And while we often think of elder abuse as something that happens behind closed doors, the glaring evidence of Biden’s cognitive decline is right in front of our eyes.
From his frequent gaffes and confused statements to his inability to recall important details, it’s clear that Biden is not mentally fit to hold the highest office in the land. Yet, instead of addressing the issue head-on, his party and the media brush it off as harmless slips of the tongue or “Biden being Biden.”
This is a dangerous attitude to have. It not only enables the abuse of an elderly individual but also sets a dangerous precedent for how we treat older adults in our society. By dismissing Biden’s cognitive decline as mere political fodder, we are sending a message to the rest of the country that it is acceptable to overlook the well-being and dignity of our elders.
Furthermore, by keeping Biden in office despite his obvious mental decline, we are doing a disservice to the American people. The presidency is a demanding role that requires clear thinking, sound judgment, and decisiveness. It is unfair to burden Biden with the pressures and responsibilities of the presidency when he is clearly incapable of fulfilling them.
If we truly care about the well-being and rights of older adults, we must confront the reality of elder abuse in this country. We cannot turn a blind eye to the mistreatment of Biden, or any elderly individual for that matter. It is our duty as a society to protect and advocate for the rights of our elders, regardless of their political affiliation.
It’s time for Democrats to put aside their political ambitions and prioritize the well-being of their party’s aging leader. It’s time for the media to stop downplaying Biden’s cognitive decline and start holding him accountable. And it’s time for all Americans to recognize and address the issue of elder abuse, both in our political system and in our communities.
We owe it to our elders to treat them with dignity, respect, and compassion. Let’s not allow politics to overshadow the urgent need for action on elder abuse. The time to face the reality is now.
