Illegal immigrants assault NYPD officers, released without bail: Report
Illegal Immigrants Beat NYPD Officers near Times Square
Last weekend, two NYPD officers were viciously attacked by a group of illegal immigrants near Times Square. Shocking video footage captured the officers struggling on the ground as the perpetrators relentlessly assaulted them.
The incident unfolded when the officers instructed the group of illegal immigrants, who were loitering in the street, to move along around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Within moments, a fight erupted, with the illegal immigrants ganging up on the two policemen, as reported by The New York Post. The NYPD shared video footage showing the officers attempting to arrest one of the illegal immigrants while others kicked and punched them in the head.

Eventually, four of the illegal immigrants were apprehended and identified as Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19, Kelvin Servat Arocha, 19, Juarez Wilson, 21, and Yorman Reveron, 24, according to the Post. Shockingly, all four were released without bail after being charged with assault. However, a fifth suspect was arrested on Monday night and charged with attempted assault of a police officer.
The two officers sustained minor injuries, including cuts to the face and bruised bodies, and received treatment at the scene. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the footage and investigating the incident.
Of particular concern is Reveron, one of the released illegal immigrants, who already has two open cases for assault and robbery. He allegedly assaulted an employee at Nordstrom Rack after being caught attempting to steal a $130 item. Additionally, Reveron is accused of punching a loss prevention officer during another robbery attempt at Macy’s last month.
This incident highlights the ongoing struggle faced by New York City in dealing with the influx of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants who have taken advantage of President Joe Biden’s lenient border policies. Mayor Eric Adams recently acknowledged that some of these illegal immigrants have been involved in a robbery pattern.
When questioned about his claim, Adams responded, “There are people who are committing crimes in all walks of life. It’s not just migrants and asylum seekers. I think that we have a number of migrants who have committed crimes. We have a number of non-migrants who are committing crimes.”

When pressed for data supporting his claim, Adams pointed to a robbery pattern that involved the participation of some migrants.
What broader questions does this incident raise about the challenges faced by law enforcement in dealing with illegal immigrants and the need for comprehensive immigration reform
With assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. This decision has sparked outrage and debate regarding the treatment and consequences for illegal immigrants who commit crimes in the United States.
Critics argue that the release of these individuals without bail sends a dangerous message that assaulting police officers will be tolerated and met with minimal consequences. They believe that this incident highlights the need for stricter immigration policies and heightened enforcement efforts to ensure the safety of law enforcement officers and the general public.
Proponents of more lenient immigration policies argue that incidents like this should not be used to tarnish the reputation of all illegal immigrants. They emphasize the importance of focusing on the specific individuals involved in the assault rather than demonizing an entire group of people. They also argue that incarceration should be reserved for those who pose a significant threat to public safety, and releasing these individuals without bail does not necessarily imply a lack of consequences.
