Patrick Mahomes Sr. Arrested for DWI for the Third Time
Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes Jr., has been arrested once again on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI) in Texas.
According to jail records, Mahomes Sr., 53, was taken into custody on Saturday in Tyler, Texas, and is now facing DWI charges.
He has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated for the third time, as stated in online records.
Mahomes Sr., a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player, is currently being held on a $10,000 bond for the DWI charge.
In 2018, Mahomes Sr. was arrested for the second time for driving under the influence (DUI). After pleading guilty, he served a 40-day jail sentence. In 2014, he received a fine for having an open container of alcohol in his car.
Prior to these incidents, Mahomes Sr. faced charges following a single-car collision in 1994, according to a Bleacher Report article.
In addition, in 2016, Mahomes Sr. was apprehended and charged with public intoxication during a football game between Texas Christian University (TCU) and Texas Tech, his son’s alma mater.
This arrest comes just a week before his son, Mahomes Jr., is set to lead the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs have the opportunity to become the first team since the New England Patriots in 2003 and 2004 to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles.
Pat Mahomes Sr., along with other Chiefs supporters, has been closely following the playoffs. After Kansas City’s victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game on January 28th, he was seen celebrating on the field with the team.
Between 1992 and 2003, Mahomes Sr. played in the MLB for teams such as the Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, and Boston Red Sox.
The Super Bowl LVIII between the Chiefs and 49ers will take place on Sunday, February 11th at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.
