This didn’t happen 10 years ago, 20 years ago, 100 years ago, this happened less than three months ago when I went and I tried to meet with as many survivors as I could meet with, as many families as I could meet with. For the second time I met with Hersh’s parents and they’re so incredible. And I met with hostages that were released, and I was sad to leave; I didn’t want to leave.I want to be in Israel as much as I can. Israel is the most amazing place in the world. And despite everything that is going on there right now, the people have so much love and hope in them and spirit in them. And I hope with my content, already I’ve seen people’s perspectives changing a little bit, and their eyes are being opened. And that’s all I could ask for.”
During the Grammy Awards, Harvey Mason Jr., the CEO of the Recording Academy, also paid tribute to the victims in Israel. He acknowledged the tragic events that have occurred at music events around the world and emphasized the importance of music as a safe space.
“Music must be our safe space. When that’s violated, it strikes at the very core of who we are,” Mason said from the stage at the awards ceremony.
