NY Republican demands Biden’s power be revoked due to mental decline
Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney Urges White House Cabinet to Consider Stripping President Joe Biden of Power
Republican Representative Claudia Tenney of New York is calling on the White House cabinet to take action against President Joe Biden through the 25th Amendment of the Constitution. Tenney’s plea comes after the release of a report by special counsel Robert Hur, who investigated Biden’s handling of classified documents from his time as a senator and vice president.
“After concluding that President Biden knowingly and willfully removed, mishandled, and disclosed classified documents repeatedly over a period of decades, Mr. Hur nevertheless recommended that charges not be brought against him,” Tenney wrote in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Tenney expressed “grave concerns” about Biden’s health and mental acuity, as described in the Hur report. The 25th Amendment authorizes the White House cabinet to strip the president of authority if he is deemed “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
“Candidly, Special Counsel’s report makes a reasonable case that he is not,” Tenney said. “Being unable to remember what position he held, and when, is exceptionally concerning. Being unable to remember when one’s child died – even within a time frame of several years – is perhaps a more damning reflection of his mental impairment.”
Tenney emphasized the need for President Biden to be charged or removed from office, stating that there is no middle ground. She called on Attorney General Garland to explore proceedings to remove the president pursuant to the 25th Amendment.
Discussion Over the 25th Amendment
The discussion over the 25th Amendment began several years ago when Democrats suggested creating a commission to assess a president’s mental fitness. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi proposed the commission in response to concerns about former President Donald Trump’s perceived mental instability.
“This is not about President Trump. He will face the judgment of the voters, but he knows the need for us to create a process for future presidents,” Pelosi said in October 2020. “This legislation applies to future presidents, but we are reminded of the necessity of action by the health of the current president.”
Hur’s report raising concerns about Biden’s mental competence has sparked calls among Republicans for his removal from office. Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia also invoked the 25th Amendment, stating that Biden’s mental decline is severe and renders him unfit for office.
“The Special Counsel’s report exposing that Joe Biden’s mental decline is so severe that he cannot stand trial means he is unfit for office,” Greene posted on X. “We must demand either the 25th Amendment be invoked or impeachment.”

What concerns have been raised about President Biden’s cognitive abilities?
Frame of decades – is deeply troubling. These are not the actions of a mentally fit individual.”
Tenney’s call for action comes amid growing concerns among Republicans about Biden’s ability to effectively govern. Several instances of verbal gaffes, stumbling over words, and forgetting names have raised questions about his cognitive abilities.
In her letter to Garland, Tenney urged the Attorney General to consider the seriousness of the allegations against Biden and take appropriate action.
“Given the gravity of these allegations and the potential impact on national security, I respectfully request that you initiate further investigation into President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents,” she wrote.
Tenney highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in government, stating that the American people deserve to know the truth about their leaders.
“We must hold our elected officials to the highest standards, regardless of party affiliation,” Tenney emphasized. “The 25th Amendment was put in place to protect against situations where a president is unable to fulfill the duties of their office. It is our duty to ensure that this process is followed and that the best interests of the American people are served.”
Tenney’s plea to strip Biden of power through the 25th Amendment is unlikely to gain traction, as Democrats hold the majority in both the House and the Senate. However, her call highlights the growing concerns about Biden’s presidency and raises questions about his ability to effectively lead the country.
As the debate continues, it is essential to remember that the 25th Amendment is a constitutional process designed to address situations where a president is incapacitated, not a tool to be used for political gain.
The allegations against President Biden should be taken seriously, and any potential mishandling of classified information should be thoroughly investigated. Transparency and accountability are crucial for the functioning of any democracy.
Ultimately, it is up to the American people to hold their elected officials accountable and ensure that they are fit to serve. Whether through elections or other democratic processes, the power lies in the hands of the citizens to shape the future of their nation.
