White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is determined to allay fears following House Intelligence Committee Chair Representative Mike Turner’s call for President Joe Biden to declassify information deemed a “serious national security threat.”
According to multiple sources familiar with the discussions on Capitol Hill, the intelligence findings pertain to Russia’s intention to deploy nuclear weapons in space.
The insider source reveals that these nuclear weapons are not meant to pose a threat to Earth, but rather to target satellites.
“It is a matter of great concern and sensitivity,” said another insider source who spoke to the press.
Earlier on Wednesday, several members of Congress did not directly address the issue, but acknowledged its seriousness and the need for investigation.
“We will work together to address this matter, as we do with all sensitive classified issues,” stated House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) during a press conference at the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon.
“But we want to assure everyone that capable hands are in control,” he added.
However, social media users on X (Twitter) have accused the insider sources of fabricating the “Russian nuclear weapons in space” story to divert attention from the real issue. Many pointed out that Tony Bobulinski, the former business partner of the first son, testified on Tuesday and claimed to have evidence proving that both Hunter and Joe Biden were secret assets for Russia, China, and other countries seeking access to U.S. White House affairs. Many believe that the Russia claim is merely a distraction.
In addition, Turner (R-Ohio.) stated that he is consolidating all related information in a secure location accessible to all House members in accordance with chamber rules.
Sullivan had previously met with top legislators on national security committees before Turner made his public comments. He expressed surprise at Turner’s decision to speak out before their scheduled meeting.
“I am a bit surprised that Congressman Turner came out publicly today ahead of our planned meeting, where I will sit down with him and our intelligence and defense professionals tomorrow. That’s his choice,” Sullivan said.
“All I can say is that I am focused on meeting with him and the other House members of the Gang of Eight tomorrow, and I cannot provide further details from this podium at this time. However, I want to emphasize that this administration has gone further and employed more strategic approaches to declassifying intelligence in the national interest of the United States than any previous administration,” Sullivan continued.
