Ken Buck suggests removing Biden via 25th Amendment

House Republicans Push for President Biden’s ⁤Removal

House Republicans are ramping up their efforts ‌to remove President Joe Biden from office, with ⁢one GOP lawmaker proposing the use of ⁣the 25th Amendment due to concerns about his mental acuity.

Resolution to‌ Invoke ⁣the 25th Amendment

Representative Ken Buck (R-CO) plans to introduce a resolution urging members of Biden’s Cabinet to ‌invoke the 25th Amendment.⁢ This would effectively remove Biden from the presidency and install Vice President Kamala Harris in his place. The move comes after a special counsel report raised doubts about Biden’s cognitive abilities, particularly his memory.

“The report highlighted numerous instances that have been publicly⁢ witnessed, revealing President⁤ Biden’s apparent cognitive decline and lack of mental stamina,” Buck explained in an interview with ⁤Fox News. ⁣”Given the multitude of societal‍ challenges and security threats our country faces, ‍we need a chief executive with ⁤strong mental and physical ‌faculties. It’s time for the vice president and the Cabinet to prioritize our nation and proceed with invoking the 25th Amendment.”

The resolution follows the release of special counsel ‍Robert Hur’s long-awaited findings on whether Biden ⁣mishandled⁣ classified documents after leaving the White House in‌ 2017. While no criminal⁢ charges⁢ were⁢ filed, the special counsel acknowledged that ‌Biden’s portrayal of himself as “a sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man ⁢with a poor memory” played a role in the outcome.

Buck also ‌pointed out several recent‌ instances in which Biden made verbal gaffes and confused the names of current world leaders with those who passed away⁣ decades ago. One such mistake occurred during a press ‌conference where⁣ Biden attempted to refute the special counsel report’s challenge to his memory.

When asked about the war in Gaza, Biden mistakenly stated, “Initially, the president of Mexico, el Sisi, did not want⁤ to open up the gate ⁤to humanitarian material to get in. I talked to him. I convinced him to open the gate.”

It should be noted ⁣that Abdel Fattah el Sisi ⁣is the ‍president of Egypt, not Mexico.

Section 4 of the 25th ‌Amendment has never been used to ‍remove a sitting president from office. This provision allows executive officials to declare the president unfit to fulfill their duties.⁢ To be successful, the vice president must also support the proposal.

If ⁤Biden is⁣ challenged, he can defend his fitness to serve by writing to Congress. Cabinet members advocating⁣ for ⁤his removal would then have⁤ four days ‌to ⁤dispute his claim, after which Congress would⁣ vote ⁤on whether to remove him.

Buck’s decision to ⁢pursue this proposal is significant, as the ⁢retiring Colorado Republican has⁣ previously expressed reservations about other attempts to impeach Biden and remove him from the White House.

A few other Republicans, including Senators Rick Scott (R-FL) ⁢and Mike Lee (R-UT), as well as Representatives Mary Miller (R-IL) and Mike Collins (R-GA), have also called for Biden’s removal through the 25th Amendment.

The‌ Washington Examiner reached⁣ out to the White House for comment but did not receive a response.

Why do House Republicans‍ argue that invoking the ‍25th Amendment is necessary for Biden?

Ounsel’s report did raise⁣ concerns about Biden’s cognitive abilities. The report detailed instances where Biden appeared forgetful or confused during interviews and public appearances.

House ⁢Republicans argue that these findings are evidence of Biden’s mental decline‍ and believe invoking the 25th Amendment ⁤is necessary‌ to ensure the proper functioning of the government. ⁢The 25th‍ Amendment allows for the⁢ removal of a president who ⁣is unable to fulfill ‌their duties due ⁣to a physical or mental incapacity.

In addition to Representative Buck’s resolution, other ⁢House Republicans have also⁤ voiced their support⁣ for President Biden’s⁣ removal. They argue⁣ that the challenges facing ⁤the nation, such as‍ the ongoing‍ pandemic⁣ and national security threats, require a leader who is mentally sharp and capable.

Critics ⁣of the move argue that invoking the 25th Amendment should only ‌be done ⁤in extreme⁢ cases where a ‍president is clearly incapacitated. They argue that ⁢concerns about Biden’s mental acuity should be addressed through other ⁢means, such as increased transparency and accountability.

To invoke‌ the 25th Amendment, a‍ majority of⁤ the Cabinet would need to‌ agree‍ that the president is unfit for office. This would then trigger a process where⁢ the vice president would ‍assume the presidency temporarily. Ultimately, the decision would be made by Congress, requiring a two-thirds ‌majority vote in both the House and the⁤ Senate.

It remains to be ⁤seen if Representative Buck’s resolution will gain the necessary support‍ to move forward. House Democrats, who hold the majority, are unlikely to support the measure, making its passage unlikely.

The debate⁣ over President Biden’s mental acuity is not ‍a new one. Throughout the⁤ 2020 presidential campaign, there were questions and concerns raised about Biden’s age and ability to handle the demands‍ of the presidency. However, Biden has maintained that ‌he is‍ fully capable and has dismissed claims of mental ⁢decline.

As the ⁤debate⁤ continues, it is ‍clear ‍that House Republicans are determined to push for President Biden’s removal. Whether ‍their efforts will gain traction ⁢or not remains to be seen, but it underscores the deep ⁣political divisions in the country ⁣and the ongoing scrutiny⁢ of Biden’s presidency.
