Schiff Wishes for Trump’s Trial to Occur Pre-Election
The Countdown to Justice: Schiff on Trump’s Legal Delays
As the 2024 elections edge closer, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA)—now a Senate hopeful—has made it clear: he strongly desires that the legal proceedings against former President Donald Trump commence sooner rather than later.
In an eye-opening CNN interview, Dana Bash suggested Trump’s knack for postponing legal troubles could be benefiting him. Schiff, however, is holding out hope for swift judicial action.
“The art of delay is a familiar game for Trump. The true question is—will the courts see through it?” Schiff posed.

Shunning New York’s strategy, Schiff insists that facts should guide trial schedules, particularly in the ongoing Manhattan hush-money case which faces delays.
“If the delay is the Trump team’s orchestration, justice must not be stalled,” he asserts.
Schiff’s main worry revolves around special counsel Jack Smith’s 2020 election interference case. Will the Supreme Court truly allow Trump to play the presidential immunity card?
“Should the Supreme Court aid in trial postponements, it’s a grave misstep against justice and voters’ rights to information,” Schiff opines.
Trump, fighting off three other criminal allegations and civil suits, maintains his innocence, decrying a politically-driven witch hunt.
The DOJ’s Role in Trump’s Legal Journey
Bash questioned Schiff’s stance on Attorney General Merrick Garland’s investigative decisions. Schiff didn’t hold back, pinpointing delayed actions on higher-level inciters of the Capitol attack as partially culpable for the current stalemate.
He continued, “Hope still lingers that one or two cases will indeed advance before voters head to the polls.”
Adding a final note, Schiff emphasized the key responsibility rests not with the Justice Department post-indictment, but with Trump’s defense and the courts that entertain their delay tactics.
He concluded with a stark reminder, “Justice deferred should not translate to justice denied. It’s up to the courts to sidestep this ploy.”
