Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized a massive stash of weapons, magazines, and ammunition Saturday from a car attempting to cross the border between Texas and Mexico.
The seizure occurred when officers assigned to outbound operations at the Camino Real International Bridge identified a 2022 Dodge Ram 3500 that was headed to Mexico and selected it for inspection, according to a press release.
“The vehicle was referred for a non-intrusive inspection system examination,” the release said.
“During physical inspection of the vehicle, CBP officers discovered 22 weapons, 22 magazines and 1,480 rounds of ammunition hidden within plastic totes.”
All the firearms, magazines, and ammunition were taken by CBP officers, and the case was referred to Homeland Security Investigations, according to the release.

“Our frontline CBP officers continue to exercise vigilance in the outbound environment and that dedication to duty coupled with inspections experience resulted in this significant outbound weapons seizure,” Port Director Pete Beattie, Eagle Pass Port of Entry, said.
“These types of seizures perfectly illustrate CBP’s commitment to helping secure our shared border with Mexico.”
