McCarthy predicts Biden won’t finish second term due to ‘basic statistics

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy ‌expressed concerns about 81-year-old President Joe ⁤Biden potentially not completing a second term, contrasting it with his confidence⁣ in ‌77-year-old former⁣ President Donald Trump. McCarthy mentioned‌ Biden’s health issues and asserted that if elected, Biden might not serve his full term. McCarthy made these⁤ remarks during a speech advocating for Trump’s re-election at ⁤Georgetown University.

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy last night raised the specter of 81-year-old President Joe Biden ending a second term prematurely, something he doesn’t fear about 77-year-old former President Donald Trump.

Citing “higher probability and simple statistics,” the Trump supporter said that “if Joe Biden is elected, that he can’t carry out his entire presidency.”

Biden has been dogged by repeated falls and appears confused at times and multiple polls show that many Democrats believe he is too old and feeble to serve. Even today, he had to be guided around the South Lawn during a welcome ceremony for Japan’s prime minister.

McCarthy made his comments while making an impassioned case for Trump’s election to a skeptical crowd of Georgetown University students.

McCarthy, who had worked with both Biden and Trump during his leadership days in the House, said, “I will just tell you, based upon my experiences working with both men, it’s not a hard decision.”

He spoke to the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service and faced questions from students and Executive Director Mo Elleithee, a former Democratic Party spokesman, who has created a safe space for all political sides to talk shop.

McCarthy appeared to welcome critical questions, making the case that it is important for opposing sides to discuss critical issues. One was the election.

Near the end of the session, a senior asked a critical question about McCarthy’s endorsement of Trump and meeting with him after the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021.

McCarthy said that rather than “abandon” Trump when he was down after his loss to Biden, he felt it was important to continue their friendship.

“I also have another philosophy,” he said. “Whether I like you or dislike you, if something bad happens in your life, I want to be the first person to call you. Because one thing I learned in life is we have too many Facebook friends. We don’t have real friends. And the first thing that happens when something bad happens in your life, everybody abandons you. I want to call you not to help you; I just wanna know how you’re doing as a person. And I’ll do that on both sides of the aisle. I don’t pick from anything else. I just think it’s a person of who I am. I’m going to do that,” he said.

To another senior, he explained why he endorsed Trump this time. McCarthy first cited the disastrous withdrawal by Biden from Afghanistan that resulted in several deaths of American soldiers. He questioned if world leaders respect Biden and said that the president has turned every issue into a political hammer. He noted successes under Trump while questioning Biden’s age.

“Wake up,” he said, adding, “We’re all in this together.”
