President Joe Biden has given his blessing to a new national security supplemental aid package.

“I strongly support this package to get critical support to Israel and Ukraine, provide desperately needed humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza, and bolster security and stability in the Indo-Pacific,” the president said Wednesday in a prepared statement. “Israel is facing unprecedented attacks from Iran, and Ukraine is facing continued bombardment from Russia that has intensified dramatically in the last month.”

The House released the text of its proposals to provide foreign aid to countries including Ukraine and Israel, teeing the legislation up for a vote in the lower chamber on Saturday evening.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) unveiled the plan this week and Republicans published the bills earlier on Wednesday, proposing to split foreign aid into four separate bills focused on Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.

A fourth bill, focusing on other defense measures to strengthen national security, is expected later today. The bills could represent a breakthrough after months of disagreements over whether and how to provide foreign aid.

While the package is split into four bills, they will be paired together under a single rules package before being brought to the floor for individual votes. Surviving votes will be combined into a single piece of legislation to be sent to the Senate.

Should the Senate approve, the package would have Biden’s signature.

“The House must pass the package this week and the Senate should quickly follow,” he said. “I will sign this into law immediately to send a message to the world: We stand with our friends, and we won’t let Iran or Russia succeed.”
